I’ve always passed by this place and wanted to give it a try as the food at the display counter caught my eye. They just look delicious to me.

I finally got to visit this place with my friend before heading for vivid. Though the place was busy the server welcomed us with warmth and we didn’t wait long to get a table.

Every dish on their menu looked appealing to me and it took us sometimes to decide on what to eat. We went for their recommended tom yum goong and chicken pad pak.

We thought tom yum goong was huge in portion by the look from the menu but when it was served I found it small for sharing even for two people. Wish the portion was bigger given the price charged. However, we both liked the tom yum soup as it’s rich and flavorsome. It’s really appetizing and made me crave for more. As for chicken pad pak it was delicious too. It’s not overly salty and i liked the combination of everything in it.

Overall enjoy the dining experience as the food was served quick and service was good too as it didn’t take long to get a water refill whenever we ran out of water. Would love to come back to try other variety on...

Had lunch with my coworker and was disappointed with the service. I received my food in average time and 40 minutes in my coworker still hasn't received his food. This was during our 1 hour lunch break. She called the waitress and they said her food JUST started cooking.. Absolutely ridiculous...At least give us a heads up. So she ordered another dish for takeaway. 20 mins go by and I finished my dish and we go and pay because our lunch break is already up.

We go up to the counter and ask for the bill and our takeaway. This other waitress didn't even know we did takeaway and had to ask the kitchen to double check. Comes back and tells us the food is still cooking and had to wait another 20 minutes..?? At this point, my coworker is absolutely livid. She never got her lunch and wasted her whole lunch break. There was no empathy from the staff regarding the situation, no apology or compensation on their behalf. It's almost as if they didn't care and this one waitress had the audacity to tell us "Do whatever you want".

Stay away from this place if you wanted to be treated...

Sydney! You'll want to save this place.

Get in quick for this whole pork knuckle deal from now until 22 March. @tawandang_george_st is celebrating its 10th anniversary and their signature Thai fried pork knuckle with chilli sauce is half price. Yes from $39 to $19.50. It's massive and a great deal for dine in or takeaway.

It's crispy on the outside, melty gooey on the inside. So good. I could see the locals coming in to enjoy the Thai cuisine and this pork knuckle.

Tawandang is also a great popular Thai restaurant and watching these aunties cook is revelation. They serve great range of Thai classics like a beautiful tom yum goong with king prawn which was absolutely gorgeous.

I also had a pickled egg with stir fried basil and pork mince. Loved it but the pickled egg may not be for everyone.

Lovely staff, friendly Thai hospitality and really great authentic food. Come for the pork knuckle and stay for the...

Went for dinner with buddy’s family for dinner since they doing promotion on our favourite dish of deep fried pork knuckle. Always love coming here for a good decent Thai food but price is quite expensive if compare to the rest of Thai food around George street. Majority of the staff English communication are very limited so you have to really watch out on what you order and better still, point on the menu to order avoiding any mistake. Food is marvellous should I say the flavour is just nice for the palate. Sourish and spicy with dash of sweetness is what Thai food usually taste and match perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. The papaya salad is one of my favourite. Crunchy and sour best go with a bowl of Tom yum soup. The deep fried pork knuckle is my all time favourite. It’s not salty like those German style knuckle but just nice with their homemade chilli sauce. Pricy food but good.
