It saddens me to say that one of my once-cherished Nepalese restaurants in Sydney has taken a noticeable downturn in quality.
Last year, during a road trip from Melbourne, my parents and I dined at The Momos Hub multiple times and were genuinely impressed — the food, service, and overall experience exceeded expectations. Naturally, I was excited to return this year. Unfortunately, this time around, our visit left much to be desired.
The staff didn’t seem as attentive as they were during our previous visits, and the food quality had noticeably slipped. The chicken curry in the Thakali set was underwhelming, and the rice was served lukewarm — something you just don’t expect from a dish meant to be comforting and satisfying. We also tried the prawn chilli, which was far too wet and overly saucy. The prawns used were the generic small supermarket variety, lacking the freshness and texture that usually make this dish pop.
While the momo filling was still tasty, the wrap continues to be a letdown. For a restaurant named “The Momos Hub,” it’s disheartening to see them still relying on readymade wrappers. Hand-rolled wraps would elevate the dish and truly make it their signature offering, as it should be.
Please find a screenshot of the review I left last year — which I’ve since taken down — as I had genuinely high regard for this place back then. I’m sharing this updated review not as a rant, but as constructive feedback from a loyal customer who wants to see this place thrive again.
Last year, I couldn’t resist dining here multiple times during my visit to Sydney. This time, once was enough. I sincerely hope the team takes this as motivation to bring back the quality and warmth that once made The Momos Hub a standout destination for...

Also I was pleased with the honesty of the order taker who warned that the 'roti' was not made on premises (i.e. not authentic), but I decided to try it anyway. Verdict: She was right; don't order the roti--it's not good.
The meal I had was great though: Daal Fried.
One criticism is that the communication skills over the phone in trying to get directions. Even with googleMaps it wasn't straightforward to find, and very few buildings in the vicinity display their street number. She informed that the restaurant faces out onto George Street--which it does--so it was one of those "you can't miss it" places. But it's a small doorway which leads down a narrow staircase. She could have mentioned that. It was a reminder that good English really makes a difference to the success of a restaurant--particularly in engaging with customers who may not be familiar with exotic cuisine.
Oh, on that topic, the order taker was indeed quite proactive in making sure I was aware of the ingredients of the dessert I tried for the first time--it was great.
The other negative was that the music was too loud.
Entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere, though crowded (and the too loud music). But "crowded" means it's popular.
And the prices were reasonable.
I'll be going there again.
*EDIT: 14JUN2025 (Saturday evening): No seating immediately available (10 minute wait). I decided on a take away: Goat curry and rice. For this dish, I'd give 2 stars: flavour was too hot, it was too oily, too many bones, and the rice was not authentic for Indian cuisine--certainly...
Read moreDuring our recent road trip from Melbourne to Sydney, my parents and I had the pleasure of dining at The Momos Hub. Having heard a lot about this establishment, we were eager to experience it for ourselves. As someone who has visited numerous Nepalese restaurants in both Melbourne and Sydney, I must admit my expectations were not particularly high. However, to our pleasant surprise, The Momos Hub exceeded all expectations.
The food, in particular, stood out. It was better than I anticipated, especially considering my past experiences elsewhere. The highlight, besides the delicious flavors, was the exceptional attentiveness of the staff. Their level of service was truly surprising for a Nepalese restaurant, and it greatly enhanced our dining experience.
Each dish was meticulously presented and appetizing, with the Nepalese veg thali set being a standout. It surpassed our expectations in terms of taste and authenticity.
We were so impressed by our initial visit that we returned to The Momos Hub on more than one occasion during our stay in Sydney. However, if there's one area that could use improvement, it's the momos themselves. While tasty, using wraps for the momos felt slightly out of place in a Nepalese restaurant. Perhaps dedicating staff solely to hand-roll the momo wrappers could enhance authenticity and overall dining experience.
Despite this minor critique, I wholeheartedly recommend The Momos Hub to anyone seeking authentic Nepalese cuisine in Sydney. It's a gem worth discovering, and we left each visit with satisfied taste buds and a...
