Walking into The Shed at 10AM on a Sunday morning and seeing just one other table in the open seating was an ill omen for my morning expedition to this inner-west Cafe. The Shed doesn't have table service, so walking up to the counter to order and waiting a few minutes for two chatty customers to finish their weekend catch-up with the manager(?) was reasonable, if a little tedious.
After placing an order for Salmon Benedict ($18.9) & a Flat White ($4), The Shed seemed to go into overdrive, with my food coming out in less time than I'd been waiting in line to order it. The eagerness of the Kitchen unfortunately didn't match up with their barista, who took the same leisurely approach to coffees as with taking orders. It wasn't until half of my breakfast was eaten that a waiter stumbled across with what looked like a take on a Wet 'N' Wild attraction, and explained there had been a "Terrible Spill". With a large portion of my coffee now sloshing around the saucer, the waiter kindly went and got some napkins to clean up the spill, an action that would've been admirable in the aftermath of Exxon Valdez; I would've been happy enough with a new coffee.
By this time, my generic Salmon Benedict was looking sad on the plate, with the confusing component of giant haloumi bricks now squeaky, rubbery, and cold on the barely-toasted bun. Haloumi and bun aside, the rest of the benedict was executed well enough, with nicely poached eggs and tasty salmon. At the $19 price tag though, there are plenty of better options in Parramatta.
Could The Shed offer a better experience on a different day? Possibly, but I'm not going to visit again to find out.
Edit: Appreciate the detailed response, and happy to reflect that in rating. Obviously if I was to go again I'd be surprised if the same...

Went to the shed a week or such ago and had a great experience. The moment I walked in (with my pup), the attentive waitress Stephanie brought a water bowl and some treats for my dog, I didn't even ask for it, wow! And yes the cafe was busy then!
The menu is thoughtfully designed and has a good mix of food and drinks option, took me a while to decide my order. I had a Strawberry Honey Smoothie and a Power Bowl (I guess that was the name). Being busy, the order was ready quickly. The food, is simply delicious! Everything was plated thoughtfully and was appealing to look at. Well done chef Rohit for awesome lunch. The strawberry smoothie was yumm as well. Cafe looks very clean, new and well maintained with trendy decor.
I personally felt the cafe was a tad bit pricey. I mean $7.90 for regular smoothie and $15.90 for a main with $4 extra to add mushrooms, was a little too much. Overall, great experience and loved the food, I will be...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited The Shed Parramatta with my family for breakfast on two occasions, spending over $80 each day. While the food was good and most staff were fantastic, my experience at The Shed was soured by an unpleasant encounter with one of the waitresses.
I had asked for tomato relish with my meal, and they agreed without mentioning any extra charge. After finishing breakfast, a young waitress approached me outside the restaurant and informed me that I owed $1 for the relish. I was surprised, especially after spending a significant amount on breakfast. When I questioned it, she curtly stated, "That's from the kitchen." Since I only had a card, I ended up paying $1.10 for a small teaspoon of relish.
It's not about the moneyโit's about the principle and the way it was handled. I understand that businesses have costs, but chasing a customer down over $1 after such a substantial purchase felt petty and unprofessional. A better approach would have been to mention the...
