3 of us entered, seated at a single table for dinner. A few empty tables so we asked for a bigger nicer table in the corner, they said sorry, you’re only a group of 3. Ok. Not like there’s a queue outside. Ordered tomahawk 1.5kg med-well Hot stone Wagyu Octopus salad Beef ribs, pork ribs Sparkling water Lemon lime bitters *they proceed to ask my teenage daughter for ID… ok… i guess there’s always a first for everything, never mind then… Consequently we were offered a table upgrade due to our order, but still, the table we wanted was left empty. We were dutifully relocated to the upgrade of a 4 seater under the stairs by the storage of all the extra unused furniture. Thank you very much. That’s so wonderful. The waitress smiled pleasantly, reminding us that we’re now on a table double the original size, very pleased with herself. Of course, we replied, that’s awesome, thumbs up. The food came out in appropriate time. Barely digging in, the pleasant waitress returns asking for our feedback. Please, let us try it first, we smiled politely. So here is the feedback; The salad came with rotted leaves and yellowing spinach. The octopus was great though. The mash was lumpy and stiff, not velvety, buttery and smooth as one would expect at such an establishment. The tomahawk was tough, chewy, stiff, dry, definitely beef jerky consistency , beyond well done. Although 2 slices did have a slight pink centre, still dry as. Yes we did order med-well you say, but being served tough, dry abd beyond well done is another first also. Such a shame though because the rib flavours were amazing! Beef was perfect. Pork slightly burnt to a bitter crisp black edge here and there. If you scrape those bits off (hopefully the bitter bites gone) then you’ll be able to taste the amazing caramelised flavour, so not too bad at all. The Wagyu hot stone was definitely the highlight, a must try. This dish is value for money! We all loved this. The saving grace to pull the entire meal together would probably be the chilli piri piri sauce with its amazing spice kick. This sauce is not for the faint hearted if you can’t handle your heat. Yes we did take 85% of the food home, doggy bagging it is the right term, as the ribs and steak was wrapped in butchers paper, super classy! Another first. All in all, was a nice experience. Would we come back? Probably not. This is an honest review, so much potential with the overall flavours. Just needs to improve on the execution.

Disappointing Experience at 500 Degrees Parramatta I had high expectations when choosing 500 Degrees Parramatta for our Christmas team dinner with a group of 11 people. The initial impression was promising, and we opted for the set menu, hoping for a smooth and enjoyable experience. However, things quickly went downhill. While placing our orders, some of us selected the Salmon and chose chips as the side. The menu clearly stated: “Mains also include with one choice of either roasted rosemary potatoes, salad or chips.” However, the waitress informed us that chips would incur an extra charge, claiming the Salmon automatically comes with asparagus. I pointed out the menu’s wording, which explicitly includes a choice of sides for mains, but my concerns were dismissed. Eventually, the waitress returned, stating we could swap the asparagus for chips. However, we did not agree to this, as the asparagus was part of the main dish, not a side. My guest specifically wanted chips as their side, as per the menu’s stated options. To our frustration, when the bill arrived, we were charged extra for the chips despite the menu’s claim that sides were included in the price of mains. This felt like a deliberate attempt to mislead, and I chose not to argue further, but as a business owner myself, I know this is a surefire way to lose trust and customers. For a group bill totalling $1,300, such deceptive practices leave a sour taste. If small details like sides can be mishandled and misrepresented, it raises questions about how much attention and honesty go into the rest of the dining experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend 500 Degrees Parramatta. Transparency and customer respect are vital, and this establishment failed on both fronts. Save yourself the hassle and find a place that values its patrons.

I had high hopes for this place after seeing a video on social media, though I left disappointed. Our waitress was friendly and patient with us as we browsed the menu for quite some time and checked in with us as we got our food - good service. The fit out of the restaurant is really well done. It's dim, swanky, and gives resuturant-goers an upbeat, downtown vibe right in the heart of Parramatta. It's nice! And tables are well spaced out. It was the food that really let me down. The flavours were a little boring, the sauces were rich but lacked any 'wow' factor for the steak and ribs. I ordered a $120 wagyu steak(MB9), but it didn't melt in my mouth as aI had hoped, it was a little chewy and the meat quality didn't seem premium. Comparing this to Ruse (another steakhouse in Parra) where I felt like their wagyu was worth every dollar and mouthful. My partner ordered a combo of ribs and steak. The ribs were overcooked and the steak was dry and bland. I genuinely felt like I could have made a better steak with a premium cut form Woolies. The one dish that was delicious was the Wagyu Lollipop entree, and for some reason with a lower marble score (MB7) than my steak, this gave me that buttery texture. The chips were also bland with no flavouring and barely salted. The most expeinsive steak (~$400)... is laughable. I really don't like the cash grab some restaurants use. Adding "24K gold flakes and black caviar" to accompany a high quality steak so they can just to increase the price by $50+. It should be optional. Reminds me of the infamous 'Salt Bae' restaruants. Unfortunately, I won't rush back. 4 of us spent $488. At this pricepoint, there are much better food options out there. Nice spot though with some instagramable dishes... if you're into that.

Fathers Day Feast - unfortunately not, more like 500 degrees of frustration. After eating our fill with plenty of food left over and more to come which never arrived, my son asked me what would I give this restaurant experience out of five stars. I said the first question I ask myself is would I came back and the answer is NO so an automatic fail and I would give a 1 stars, he asked why and this is what I said. The menu was confusing, particularly the shared platters which we wanted, and none of this was explained to us such as the the quantity/serves, and choices/combinations. We were forced to spend $75 per person so had to order food we didn't want and knowingly couldn't eat. We were upsold sauces, why I don't know all the meats were slathered in the same BBQ sauce ribs, chicken wings and lamb chops, the sausage and wagyu were spared sort of but on the same platter. The wagyu was served bleu and requested med-rare. The blunt knives we were given unable to cut through the raw meat. The lamb was also bleu, which I asked to be medium. I would have expected the waiter to understand the meat cuts and best way to cook/serve and make the recommendation. But nothing. The wings were not rendered enough so the skin, was slimy and undercooked which has a horrible mouth feel. We ordered a salad which we couldn't eat as swimming in dressing which tasted like it came from a bottle off the supermarket shelves.

OVERALL It all felt rather rushed and food underdone. I would have expected the meal to be served all at once not Hawker style as it was prepared, thus were were served food with no plates going cold. My daughters steak and chips off the kids menu was better done then our meal. The service was terrible with the waiter not getting our order correct when ordering, not asked for drinks and charged for the food we were not served and then claiming that we should have told him. It should not be our job to tell the waiter what food is served and what isn't. Thankfully after some discussion this was taken off the bill.

Unfortunately we had paid a $100 deposit as a booking and didn't want to forfeit this by going elsewhere, but in hindsight we would have had a better experience and better value for money forfeiting the $100 deposit and enjoying some Momo's from 8844 Momo next door. Particularly when a 10% surcharge was added...

Last week, week, we celebrated a birthday dinner with friends at 500 Degrees in Parramatta. While the food was ok, the experience was disappointing overall. Unfortunately, the service was poor and significantly impacted our evening.

Initially, we had all chosen the Couple's 3-Course menu for the seven of us. After the waitress took our orders, we were informed by her manager that this menu could not be offered to us as we were not couples (2 couples and 3 young adults), and we were asked to reorder from the 3-Course menu instead. This caused a delay of approximately 20 minutes, as we had to go through the ordering process again from the beginning.

Subsequently, the restaurant manager came to take our new orders. My son originally ordered the Lamb Shoulder but decided to change his selection to the Wagyu Rump Steak shortly after the manager had left our table. We communicated this change to the manager immediately.

Upon receiving the bill, we were surprised and frustrated to discover that we were incorrectly charged for the WHOLE Complete set of "Lamb Shoulder" set, despite having explicitly informed the manager of our request to substitute it with the Wagyu Rump Steak set. Consequently, the bill reflected an additional charge, billing us for 8 sets instead of the 7 ordered. Had we not carefully reviewed the bill, we would have unknowingly overpaid this $75.90. The manager’s response was to acknowledge the mistake but did not offer an apology for the oversight.

To make matters worse, after returning home, my son suffered from a severe stomach ache and diarrhea. This experience was incredibly disappointing, especially considering it was meant to be a joyful celebration.

I strongly urge others to double-check their bills when dining at this establishment to avoid similar issues. Unfortunately, this visit has left us with a very negative impression, and we will be...
