📍Uptown Korea, George Street The hype is real! An 11pm close time for any late night cravings 😛 As it's located on the Main Street of George Street there is not a lot of parking. I would recommend to catch public transport as it's only a 2 min walk away from town hall station, I would advise you to check street parking for availablities. The train is located close by, literally 1 min walk from the convenient store. I would highly recommend walking from any public transport area as it’s super hard to find parking. If you don’t drive the closest trains would be Townhall station or town hall tram stop. I ordered several items 4x pieces of the Fishcakes (oden) $12 or 1x $3, Beef bulgogi kimbap $10, Topokki $13 and a grape Welch soda $3 totalling up to $38.50. It's pretty affordable for the city! My best advice would be to eat this with a group of friends.💰 The topokki was super tasty! 10/10 The Beef Kimbap was dry and had no taste! 6/10 The Oden was 10/10 super tasty especially with the broth. They have both dine in and take out option, there isnt alot of seating area but I heard that it gets super busy! Later in the evenings it isn’t too busy. Overall experience is 9/10 #KoreanTown #KoreanMart #Topokki #Oden #Kimbap #BeefBulgogi #Latenighteats #Sydney #Australia

Please only go for tiktok video aesthetic ASMRs— unworthy of anything else. We ordered tteokbokki and it was sooo bad! The quantity to begin with, for $16, was laughable. And the rice cakes tasted like rubber. The sauce was okay but only tasted flavourful by itself; tteok wasn’t absorbing at all! There was a feedback box so I was a bit pleased but as I went closer, I saw a cockroach lingering inside the sheets bag! 🥲 (see attached photo) The staff wasn’t good and they were perhaps even short staffed because the lady who took our order at the counter kept running in the kitchen as well. As a result, she didn’t offer cutlery— just handed me a plastic container with my order (which btw is such a massive waste- they don’t even have recycling) and then disappeared?? I had to find tissues which were hidden away far from customers. 🤡 But what else could I have done when there’s no one at the counter?! With the posters and all, it seems that the owner is trying but unless you hire well, you just cannot deliver with a store like this.

Here I had an exceptional dining experience. This restaurant specializes in Korean cuisine, offering delicious dishes such as Kimbap, Teokbokki, and various ice drinks, along with a selection of noodles. The Prawn and Chicken Kimbap was freshly prepared with a perfect balance of flavors and textures, making it a delightful appetizer. The Teokbokki, a popular Korean street food, was cooked to perfection with tender rice cakes and a flavorful sauce that had just the right amount of spice. Yes, though the portion is small than expected. One of the highlights of the meal was the variety of ice drinks available. From fruity flavors to coffee options, each drink was refreshing. Additionally, the variety options of noodles are also symbol of perfection, with a rich and savory sauce. Overall, I highly recommend Uptown Korea for anyone craving authentic Korean cuisine. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is welcoming.

I want to share an experience I had a couple months ago, maybe in August, which completely altered my perception of this store. I'll start off by saying that I used to come here a lot for their kimbap because it's delicious, convenient, and quick. I invited my boyfriend who has a severe peanut allergy to eat with me since korean food doesn't generally use peanuts and it was very easy for us to ask about the ingredients. That's exactly what we did and the sweet elderly people working there were able to communicate with each other very quickly and get back to us with a definitive 'no' and my boyfriend shared kimbap with me with no problems.

The second time we went together, as prompted by the signs on the walls and out of general cautiousness, my boyfriend went to ask them if the kimbap had any nuts (which they didn't the last time we went). The people working there this time were clearly inexperienced and had poor English so at first they couldn't understand the question and then when they did understand the question, they couldn't properly answer it and gave us an unclear "maybe?" This was largely unhelpful and we were now suspicious because of the response so we tried to ask them if we could see the sauces but they refused us and couldn't elaborate why due to language barriers. My boyfriend and I decided to give up on the kimbap and head home to get food but the inexperienced cashier couldn't figure out how to give us a refund so we were waiting for a bit for that to be sorted. In that time, the young manager arrived and was called to help us by the inexperienced cashier but the manager was curious why we needed a refund. The cashier tried to explain what she knew to the manager in Korean and I tried to explain in English the situation but it resulted in the manager berating my boyfriend for his nut allergy saying things like "why didn't you tell us before you ordered?", "why would you come here if you have such a severe allergy?", and "why would you ever eat outside?" To that lady - sorry for telling you (as the sign prompted) that we have an allergy??? I tried to explain that we came here and ordered because we've been here in the past and didn't have a problem but this time we got a suspicious response for the usual question of 'does this include peanuts?' and hence opted for a refund so we could eat at home. Instead of helping us actually figure out if there were nuts, the manager spent all her time scolding us saying "of course we have nuts!" She was a younger person and was likely immature because she unhelpfully added that "most places have nuts, it's everywhere, you can't control everything," with a snarky attitude and scoffed at us. I don't think she realises that there's a reason we went specifically to Uptown Korea instead of other restaurants in the area, and there is a reason why we always ask if there are nuts even if we've been to a place before because we know this fact intimately. We are not ignorant, we are cautious AND we are never going back again because clearly the ingredients are inconsistent and their kimbap has nuts...True to my word, I have never returned which is a shame because I did enjoy going here to get kimbap in the past - afterall, I have a coconut milk allergy! How could I dare eat outside? This food MUST have coconut milk! People with allergies should just never eat out and certainly don't let the people running the place know that you have the allergy because you don't want to be scolded by them do you? Awful attitude of that manager. The workers tried their best but were unhelpful. The elderly workers are leagues better. Ultimately, the food is good but my single experience with the customer service was enough to never want to...

📍 Right across from Town Hall Event – a cozy Korean snack spot 🇰🇷✨

I came around 1pm and it was packed with nearby office workers grabbing lunch. They’ve got super convenient grab-to-go meals, plus a DIY instant noodle station 🍜 with so many flavors I’ve never seen before – from different Buldak ramyun to even vegan options! You can also mix your own drinks from the freezer 🧃.

💡 Students get 5% off, and if you’re ordering for a group (up to 25 meals) it’s 10% off – such a deal!

We ordered a full spread and honestly couldn’t finish everything, so we packed the rest to take home 🥡.

✨ What we tried:

Kimbap 🍙 (13 🔪) Perfect post-workout snack! Each box comes with 10 mini rice balls, filled with protein. We tried both beef and pork – the pork wasn’t too strong, but I personally preferred the beef. Each one also had fish cake inside, which was a nice surprise!

Original Tteokbokki (16🔪) Three types of rice cakes to choose from (Original, Large, Rose) and you can add beef, pork, or cheese 🧀. The sauce was rich, spicy in a tasty way – even for someone who usually can’t handle too much heat. Loved the authentic flavor, and yes, more fish cake inside!

Oden Combo 🍢 (9 for 3 / 3.5 each) So comforting and warm. I wished there was some radish, but still really good. Personally, I liked the fish cakes soaked in the sauce more than the plain broth version – more flavor!

Overall, a super satisfying meal – will definitely come back to try more ramyun flavors...
