In general, Filipino food is amazing, and has a special brightness about it. Unfortunately, this outlet falls short when cast against the local Filipino competition.
The outlier here is their wonderful service. From the friendly person taking our takeaway order, to the older gentleman smiling and saying "welcome to Kawali!" when I came to collect said takeaway - the service was fantastic. The kitchen appeared clean as well, and the wait time was very reasonable.
The only positive experience I had from my dish itself was that the egg was perfectly cooked. Sadly, this was the most westernised sisig I've ever experienced - zero heat, lacking punch and a small portion size for the price. My spice averse wife stated that her lechon kawali was "bland" (big call there) - and the garlic rice appeared to be made with something such as a garlic infused oil rather than actual garlic.
The menu also appears to be confused - offering stereotypically Filipino dishes alongside highly westernised dishes such as sweet and sour chicken. I'm not sure who their target audience is - perhaps the menu is trying to be everyone's friend instead of being...

The owner is a fellow Batangueño (same hometown as me!) and honestly one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. He’s super accommodating and will even give you tips on where to go and what to see around Toowoomba. Feels like visiting a kababayan’s home. 💛
Now the food… wow. Everything we tried was so good. The crispy pata is insane—super crispy outside and literally falls off the bone. Their halo-halo is a must too, perfect balance of sweetness and toppings. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
It’s the kind of place that makes you feel proud to be Filipino and happy to share our food with everyone. Definitely worth the trip and I’m already planning to go back! 🇵🇭✨

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of indulging in some crispy pata, and it absolutely hit the spot. The skin was beautifully golden and incredibly crunchy, cracking with every bite — exactly what you hope for in a well-executed crispy pata. The meat inside was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with just the right amount of fat to keep it rich but not overwhelming.
What really elevated the experience was the dipping sauce — a sweet and tangy vinegar mix with chopped onions that cut through the richness of the pork perfectly. Paired with the pinakbet, pork bbq and a heaping bowl of white rice and leche flan for dessert, this dish was pure comfort food.
If you’re craving something crispy, savory, and satisfying, this crispy pata is a must-try. It’s definitely a dish to be shared (unless you’re brave enough to take...
