We had an absolutely outstanding dining experience at Boatshed Food & Wine in Lakes Entrance. This is a beautiful family-run restaurant, and their warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for the evening. One of the family members personally checked in on us throughout the night, making sure everything was perfect â and it really was.
We started with the chorizo arancini, which were crisp on the outside and full of rich, savory flavour inside. Then came the highlight â the French Brie with sourdough baguette and beetroot relish. The sourdough deserves a special mention: itâs baked by a local artisan in his own kitchen, and you simply wonât find bread like this anywhere else in Australia, or even the world. It had a beautiful woody depth to it, pairing perfectly with the creamy Brie. The house-made beetroot relish was the perfect balance of sweetness and earthiness â an unforgettable combination.
To finish our savoury dishes, we tried the dried porcini and pepper berry salted fries topped with Parmesan. Crispy, fragrant, and indulgent, they were the perfect way to round off an already amazing meal.
And for dessert, we couldnât resist the sticky date pudding â warm, rich, and absolutely amazing. The perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable dining experience.
What makes this place truly special is not only the food, but the way itâs served â with genuine care, kindness, and attention to detail. You can feel the love of a family behind it all.
If youâre in Lakes Entrance, Boatshed Food & Wine is an absolute must-visit. Exceptional food, one-of-a-kind ingredients, and hospitality that makes you feel like part...
Read moreMy wife and I are currently on our honeymoon road trip around Australia, and one of our stops was beautiful Lakes Entrance in Victoria. Tonight, we had the pleasure of dining at Boatshed Food & Wine, and from the very first phone call to make the booking, we knew this was the right place for us.
The owner was so kind and accommodating, making sure we had an outdoor table since we were traveling with our dogs. When we arrived, he even offered us blankets to keep warm, which was such a thoughtful touch. Both he and his wife provided impeccable service throughout the evening, making us feel truly welcome.
And then thereâs Chloe, their daughter and the talented chef â absolutely outstanding! The food was incredible: the chorizo arancini were delicious, the prawn & nduja tapas were bursting with flavor, and for mains we enjoyed the fried gummy shark with chips. But the absolute highlight of the night were Chloeâs handmade gnocchi with ragu â simply sublime and unforgettable. Everything was so fresh and beautifully prepared.
At the end of the evening, I felt compelled to personally thank Chloe for her amazing cooking, especially as I share the same passion and profession as a chef myself.
Thank you so much, Boatshed team, for making this such a memorable experience during our honeymoon. We hope to...
Read moreUnderstand that it's peak season and perhaps you are struggling to find staff. But there is no excuse for the attitude coming from your Chef ( if you want to even call her that). She was running around the cafe yelling and complaining, then told me that she couldn't do scrambled eggs for my child - even though it's an option on the menu. And was so completely rude about it. Then I watched her try to convince another customer not to have scrambled eggs when she was served fried. And when was told no, this chef walked off in a huff and puff. This place has really good potential, however some lack of experience with staff is letting this place down. I get how the hospitality industry can be frustrating, working in the industry for a very long time myself. But that doesn't mean you take it out on the customers just because you are not doing your job correctly. Really disappointing. However the young girls working at the front desk where very sweet and clearly a little bit overwhelmed but was doing a great job. Also the coffee was...
