First-time visit to Ilu Ilu.
The live jazz music creates a really nice and enjoyable atmosphere. The cocktails are amazing, well-presented, and there are many great options. We were definitely not disappointed with the drinks and music.
However, the food was a bit hit or miss.
The hits:
The Samosa Chaat was amazing, full of flavor, very saucy, and I would definitely recommend it.
The Paneer Tikka was also very nice, although not my personal favorite.
The misses:
We ordered the Chilli Garlic Bread, which was a letdown. The bread came out cold, so the butter wouldnāt melt. We couldnāt taste any chili, and overall, it was a very bland dish for $14. I wouldnāt recommend it at all.
The Butter Chicken Fondue was disappointing. The bread was again cold, and the grilled chicken was very dry. There wasnāt enough fondue for the amount of chicken, so we had to eat dry chicken on its own when the fondue ran out. Since the chicken hadnāt been marinated in the butter sauce, it wasnāt as flavorsome. Again, would not recommend this dish.
Overall, if you want to enjoy a nice atmosphere with jazz music and amazing cocktails, I would recommend Ilu Ilu. However, itās safe to say I wonāt be...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreTucked away along the side streets of breezy Wollongong lies Ilu Ilu Bar - an enchanting oasis which boasts a signature smorgasbord of both cocktails and Indian tapas, set in the comfort of velvet lounges and soft lighting.
Upon arrival, the warm embrace by the bar staff made me feel instantly welcome - each drink and my meal were well presented, and came out in a timely manner.
My starter was a classic martini, followed by a mildly spicy chicken tikka, rounding out with a mudslide for dessert - this explosive marriage of flavours, each complimenting the next, left me sufficed.
Paired with the shining service of Supriya (smiles all around), Ilu Ilu remains the ace of spades come bars in Wollongong.
