After seeing the reviews online, and being a Mexican food lover, I was excited to eat at this restaurant.
I ordered the Chimichanga, my favourite Mexican dish. I normally would eat at amigo’s, but have tried quite a few other Mexican restaurants.
The menu says - Soft flour fortilla with filling of your choice, red sauce and melted cheese, breaded and deep fried to perfection.
I am not sure I saw if it was breaded at all but also, I don’t see how this was possibly deep fried. Traditionally chimichanga are served crispy from being deep fried. It was completely soggy with not even crispy edges. Textually disappointing. I understand it’s served with sauce and cheese on top, but first and foremost if you’re ordering a dish deep fried, you expect it to have crunch.
Next when I was choosing the filling, options were beef, chicken, seafood, beans. I chose beef with a 100% expectation of it being pulled beef for the $28 price tag. But when it arrived, the beef was mince. Had I known it was mince, I would not have bought it. I wouldn’t buy a meal that was made with mince as it is a cheap low quality meat. Considering every time I’ve ever ordered a beef chimichanga, it has been pulled beef, this restaurant should really state on the menu that their beef is minced beef as a lot of crew customers will be expecting pulled beef and inevitably be disappointed.
It was also served with their specialty Mexican rice, which was very bland and seemed to be served on top of some melted cheese which did help give it flavour.
Over all the dish I had, I wouldn’t ever want to eat it again, how ever, the staff were extremely friendly, I could feel the uniqueness of a family owned restaurant that lacks in other restaurants, the regular customers seemed to absolutely love it, and its staff. The restaurant has great reviews and I was eager to try it myself.
If I happen to return based purely off the reviews and the wonderful friendly staff, I would try a different menu item. I would have to look past the dish I tried today and hope they had something of quality next time. But if it disappointed much the same, I wouldn’t be back.

Read moreWould not recommend. The food was really disappointing, bland and unimaginative. I don’t think anything was cooked with spices or seasoning. Everything seemed overpriced. I paid $15 for a small bean burrito which literally only had unseasoned kidney beans in it. They were also slimy which made me think they didn’t even rinse them from out of the can. Burrito served with cold rice and an Italian salad which was weird. The meat dishes my friends got were bad also. A medium nachos that’s doesn’t serve an adult, had dry mince, no sauce or spices, mince probably frozen. A chicken dish that smelled like it could have been going off. Very disappointing dinner. Not a lot of options on the menu, especially for vegetarians. Also annoyed that they didn’t have a drinks menu, even though the owner assured us they had almost everything, I like to be able to see the prices of everything before I order and browse the menu and what’s in each drink without staff waiting at the table for me to decide. Could make way better Mexican food at home for a fraction of what we paid. I would go to any other Mexican place in town before coming...
Read moreI have been coming here since I was 5 years old. My kids love it here, and now my grandchildren are enjoying it, too. We have our celebrations here, and the family loves it. Great food, excellent service all the time. Would highly recommend. The food is great. Try something different and enjoy. I do enjoy the homely appeal and presentation of the food. There are more traditional meals on offer that are very tasty. Some meals are not westernised, which is good to see. Staff are so friendly and go out of their way to serve and make your dining experience memorable. Good selection of tequila and drinks and the sangria is always a go-to. I don't think I have never had a bad experience...
