I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars based solely on the customer service. The waitstaff were very polite and kind, but did fully understand what was being asked of them at times, not entirely their fault, I may have spoken too fast for them, that’s my fault.
The atmosphere wasn’t great, the table we were at was next to the front door and every time my chair was needed to be pushed/pulled out there was minimal room before a fall, it was quite loud even with minimal people in the restaurant, it’s a long rectangle shaped restaurant so the sound reverberates a lot. It was EXTREMELY muggy with the weather, and the staff wouldn’t put the aircon on, it was a sticky and frustrating meal.
Speaking of meals, most of the food was really bad, it looks ‘okay’ pictured, the ‘gravy’ was essentially chicken stock, it was a water consistency, and was heavily salted. The Steak Snack Pack (pictured) was not to anyone’s liking, the steak was cold, it was advertised to have mozzarella cheese, I asked for extra cheese, it had very little, you can see a tiny amount pictured, but it’s not melted because the steak was cold and the chips were lukewarm. The steaks had chips and salad served together on the same dish, so there were wet chips and steamed lettuce, and the dumplings were rubbery and playdoh consistency.
My friend said that the (only) two desserts they have on the menu were “alright for the way the dinner has gone so far”. The cheesecake looked nice, but the strudle was microwaved to the temperature point that could melt steal beams.
Drinks were presentable, and priced okay, the mocktails all looked great, the mixed fresh juice was actually nice.
Overall it was a $250+ dinner with roughly 1 drink per person (alcoholic and nonalcoholic combined), and depressing food. I won’t say to skip the restaurant, but there’s most certainly better places for steak and a comfortable Atmosphere than...
Read moreThe reviews suggested our large group would have a good experience here, so we thought we'd give it a try. It was a Saturday night and other places weren't all that busy. But Texas Sizzle. In a word? Disappointing. The menu read well, but the kitchen failed to deliver. Onion rings very oily as were several of the Burgers, Buffalo wings tasted like they'd been doused in Sweet Baby Ray's Sauce with little resemblance to other Buffalo Wings I've had. Lamb ribs were very fatty and drowning in a BBQ sauce of some description. None of the steaks were cooked as requested and again were quite fatty. The worst being the Slow Cooked Rib Eye - the prime cut offered by Texas Sizzle. Inedible. Blue and chewy on the eye and grey and tough on the edges and near the bone. On the upside the sides were ok. The service was questionable as well, but it wasn't through lack of trying for the only waitress working. Slow - we arrived at 7:30 and left at 9:30 - there was a 45 minute delay between ending our starter/entree and Mains arriving which they did but in a staggered fashion 20 minutes between the first and last being served. We''d ordered 5 starters for our table of 10. No extra plates. When we asked for some more we got one. One extra plate...10 minutes later. And when it came to the mains the waitress took 3 of our orders then breezily said "...so that's it then is it?" Well. No. The venue is narrow and there was another boisterous group which heightened the noise factor significantly. Its not Texas Sizzles fault, just something to consider when deciding. Again on the upside, the beer was cold and the cocktails were fine. All drinks were reasonably priced. This review isn't designed to discourage anyone else from dining here, but is a factual observation of...
Read moreFound the restaurant to be nice and quiet, could also have been the time I went 7:30pm on a Wednesday night.
Waited at the service desk around 8mins before I finally got seen, which i think is a bit to long... Recieved the menus and sat down. Ordered the three course meal, it was only $46!
The Entre was nice - Lamb Napolise with puff rice. Seasoned well. Friend had the chicken style and was also pleased.
Main - Rump steak. Cooked incredibly well and to both our order. They were a decent size. Small note, they didn't really have a flavour. For a restaurant to be called Texas Sizzle we both imagined the steaks would have had some kind of flavour. Unfortunately, just tasted like a steak. I had mine with the potatoes friend had the chips. Both very well seasoned.
Desert. Both ordered the Chocolate Volcano. Very nice and a good gooey chocolate centre when cut. Could have done with a little more ice cream, apart from that. Capped off a pleasant evening.
Drinks. I had the Pinnepapple vodka drink, priced at $16 which for the serving size was a pretty good price. Friend had the blue mocktail which was $14(over priced? Especially for a non alcoholic drink)
Overall - Decent place, but unsure why there was only one worker. Doing the cash register plus bringing out the food. Found that a little odd. He would disappear for a few minutes then come back( I just made a joke he was out the back helping the cook/s )
I would definitely go back again. As mentioned I think I picked a good time with hardly anyone in there. Made for a quiet evening and very full afterwards.
Would...
