Delicious, high quality food in a cosy small sushi bar.
Yamamoto Graz offers typical dishes of the Japanese cuisine such as different types of maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi as well as warm dishes such as ramen. One can also have a bento box, a mix of warm and cold dishes, and many options are vegetarian as well. Almost all offered food is gluten free, upon request they serve gluten free soy sauce, however, it isn’t always available as it is rarely being asked for.
Service staff is alright. They are attentive and discrete, yet at some occasions I wasn’t sure if I made myself understood as the waiter answered quite brusquely. Nonetheless I have not had any issues with my order so far. The meal is prepared freshly and it takes a reasonable time between ordering and serving. It is plated up appealingly and the portion size is quite generous.
Seating inside is very limited with two tables for 2 and some seats at the bar, where one can watch the chef prepare the dishes. Read moreYamamoto used to be famous and very good - but today‘s dinner was a big disappointment. I was first surprised that it was empty, while in the past it was always hard to get a table. It seems like the restaurant was sold and the quality is now more like an average chinese restaurant that also offers sushi. The ramen noodle soup was made with instant noodles, the edamame were drowned in salt, the tuna on the sushi was tasteless and half cooked, I think it was unfrozen in the microwave. Overall the quality was ok for a normal chinese restaurant, but nothing special like it used to be. The only thing that remains from the old, charming place is the prices. Thanks...
Read moreWe saw outside that there was an afternoon menu for Kake Udon at 7,90€ and ordered that. When we paid it was 9,80€. After asking the lady about it, she said that we did not mention the afternoon menu and that the Kake Udon we received is “abit different”. It was a plain bowl of soup, udon and seaweed with some spring onions and nothing else. Not sure what was supposed to be different. The menu and long ago reviews give the impression to be an authentic japanese place, but inside it is chinese music and chinese owners with store bought fish to put...
