Gärtnerwirt Salzburg-Itzling — Restaurant in Salzburg

This was the best rated place near our hotel in Salzburg so we decided to give it a try. The food was excellent, and the staff friendly. Unfortunately, the menu was only in German, but they had free Wi-Fi, so we were able to google everything. The dishes were all very flavorful, and the portions generous. The fried fish and pork condon bleu were crispy and light. The chicken salad was very fresh, and the beef was tender, with a great goulash sauce. The desserts were also generously portioned. We had the ice cream filled crepe with chocolate sauce, and the apple strudel, which was one of the best we’ve tried so far. We were lucky to have had such a great meal so close to the hotel and in an area that doesn’t seem to have much around for tourists. Very traditional Austrian Wirtshaus, small and cozy, and often crowded with locals and regulars. Which is not a bad thing when the chef comes out to have a Schnaps with his loyal guests.
