I had a very frustrating experience with this hotel. Due to a simple mistake, I accidentally booked the wrong dates (21–22 July instead of 18–19 July). I noticed this just three hours after booking and contacted both the hotel and Booking.com immediately to request a cancellation or at least a partial refund. Unfortunately, the hotel receptionist was extremely rude – even shouting at the Booking.com agent and refusing to consider any flexibility, despite having 3 full days to rebook the room. The room remained unused, but they still charged me the full amount.
When I later filed a formal complaint, the hotel offered only a future discount — not a resolution for what had already happened.
After reading other reviews, I discovered that this kind of customer service is unfortunately typical at this hotel. Many guests report that staff are rude and unprofessional. One woman described how a staff member entered her room while she was still inside and naked — just 10 minutes before the checkout time. Another guest had their belongings packed up by staff and thrown out a day before their actual checkout due to a booking mistake by the hotel — no apology was given.
The recurring theme in all these reviews, including mine, is that this hotel staff never apologizes or takes responsibility.
I strongly advise travelers to avoid Hotel Flair. There are many better, friendlier, and more professional options in Salzburg — especially those owned and run by true Austrian hosts who understand...
Read moreFriendly and helpful staff. I think the hotel is understaffed. But they couldn't find our do not disturb door sign even after a day which was baffling. Even though we booked this hotel amore than a month ago, and we went in at 1 pm, they couldn't reserve a good room at least on a higher floor which was a pity. Breakfast was OK with one single coffee machine with many interruptions. Bread were tasty. So was scrambled eggs everyday. Multivitamin juice was tasty. Rucola salad was delicious. Coffee was good and strong. The wardrobe was adequate and with enough wooden hangers. No extra toilet paper was kept which again house keeping was not functioning OK. Staff could understand English but was unable to speak OK. In the night, there were some disturbances with noise from passing people. We couldn't open windows freely as it was risky. Overall a below average experience even though staff were helpful a bit but forgetting the most important things like checking us if...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Zum Guten Hirten Gasthaus in Salzburg and were more than pleased. We rented the room as a last minute decision to stay in Salzburg and, upon arrival, were greeted with sincere hospitality. We expected to check in then go to Salzburg central but the Zum Guten Hirten garden was so inviting that we decided to forego Salzburg's hectic Saturday night festivities and stay put. Plus we were intrigued by what guests and locals alike were eating. The not-so-typical rotisserie was busily churning succulent meats and the garden was soon transformed into a gastronomic heaven. The gentleman who checked us in switched hats and was now the head chef of a beautiful, robust buffet. Not exactly perfect for the dedicated vegitarian but certainly offerings for every pallet. The prices were very fair and the English-speaking staff was super friendly. We will certainly stay at the Zum Guten Hirten again or at least return for another...
