They have some very good coffee, e.g. Arabica gewaschen espresso ones (Indonesia, Columbia, used to have nice Bolivia...), some very acidic sorts and some super strong ones (over-roasted). The ones in the metal cylinders just behind the counter are super strong and if you drink those daily it's going to affect you strongly. My observation is that they mostly sell these ones as these are the cheapest ones. The ones in glass cylinders are more sophisticated and cost more. I tried several of those, but wasn't impressed. I found the ones on the left side shelves the best, but these are the most expensive and some are also very acidic. These are all small beans sorts and pale brown colour with nice but mild smell and taste.

I have been buying my coffee beans from Alt Wien for over a year now, and it never disappoints. I purchase beans for my mocha pot, AeroPress, and French press. I tend to prefer an Italian-style roast for my mocha pot, and they offer a good variety with various blends of Arabica and Robusta. They have various roasting styles, and their passion for coffee is evident. I occasionally stop for a cup of coffee at their small coffee area, and they consistently make excellent cups of coffee. Hands down, my favorite place to buy coffee beans in Vienna. They have an online delivery option too, which is very fast.

You can see this coffee mark in many places in Vienna. I was not lucky to be in Nachmarkt (which was somehow so Turkish and not local at all) but I was lucky to be able to Passy by this decent coffee roasting place. You can come here to be as all the locals taking time discuss with the staffs choosing the coffee graines they want and bring it home. Or, you could (be like me) choosing staying the the coffee bar and taking some time to enjoy every sip. I finally bought a pack of bio and fair trade coffee grain, at 8.9euros for that. Really lovely, I’d say.

It was an early Saturday morning, not many people on the street, As a tourist, My Vienna friend brought me to the area for buying something that locals would buy. We stop at Alt Wein Kaffee, A tall guy came and he seems to be the one runs the shop, I asked what are those light roast tastes of coffee best sold in the shop. He is a fast talker and quickly introduced us several tastes and promoting that he will give my friend a 10% discount if I bought something as he noticed my friend is introducing as well. I reassured with him when I told him that I will buy all the tastes he promoted and give my friend a discount. So I wrapped up all tastes and cost me a couple Hundred euros! My friend picked up one big bag of coffee she usually drink. However, the guy did not deduct 10% when he ran the transaction for my friend. I asked where is the discount he just promised me earlier to my friend? He has this creepy smile and said : oh I meant the next time she’s here! This makes me really uncomfortable for his way of doing business. I would have not to buy that many if he did not give my friend discount on hers! Mostly, when I got back home to US and weighted the bags of coffees, which all are short of weight that supposedly to be. That’s why I am giving out my negative rating here because I would never want to deal with dishonest biz owner like him. He can cheat customers first time, but he gets no biz from me and my friend as well as our friends...

Very aesthetically pleasing coffee location with everything you could imagine regarding coffee making. When you enter, you will come across the showroom where you will find various origins of coffee for sale as well as all the accessories one would need to brew at home. Towards the back, there is the coffeeshop. There are limited seats here but the space is very inviting and well-lit. The location boasts a Slayer, however, it was not functioning at the time of this visit. During the visit opted for several varieties of espresso to be prepared, and each came out with great crema. The service is good, each of the staff members were very helpful. There are a few accessibility issues that one would come across since there are stairs involved and the toilet, while well-maintained and clean, is on the smaller side. This is an excellent location for anyone looking for premium...

Two days in a row we specially came to the store in hope to have a coffee but failed. Everyday there was a reason followed by an apology that sounded dismissive.

We don’t live close by so we really tried to make ab effort to come to the store… out of courtesy (because I said to the shop person who claimed her colleague was out that we will come back later…) and interest of course (the roast smells wonderful from the outside when you walk pass.)

Today, we came just to be told that they are on a break for at least an hour even though both her colleague and herself are in the store. One wandering about, the other standing in the doorway having a smoke.

As far as I can tell, this is a shop that genuinely doesn’t want your business. Your presence is a bother to them, and we stupidly failed to read...
