Very poor experience.. we stood at the door for a while before seeing a single staff member and had poor service for the rest of the evening. The pretzels were very mediocre. They seemed to be reheated pretzels from a standard grocery store. I also spotted the waiter putting uneaten pretzels from other tables back into baskets to be served back to people. I had read that their coffee would be decent so I looked forward, at least, to a good coffee but i was very mistaken. The waiter came out a single tea of someone I was with but brought out the wrong kind of tea. She didn't want to cause a scene but she didn't want caffeine at that time so she requested her original order instead but the waiter came back 5 minutes later with news that they were in fact out of the tea she had originally ordered. After this whole ordeal the rest of the table still hasn't been served even though the orders were quite simple to prepare (sodas, juices, teas). A sizable wait later the waiter appeared with the driest bitterest cup of coffee. I've had better coffee from vending machines. We all finished up and waited several more minutes for the elusive waiter to show up before paying for our food and drinks.

(Note: Tap water...

Out first dinner of a 4 night stay in Vienna June 2019. Actually a cozy restaurant by design. Food is just average and very expensive, Vienna Schnitzel 20+€ and thin and dry. Very unfriendly service by outright arrogant waiter. Not at all was he a happy person to serve! He would not say an extra word besides the minimum order taking language. When we asked to take some of the leftover food home ...he said..”I bring foil”! First we did I not really mean what he meant as he left. When he came back he placed a plain roll of silver kitchen foil on the table and left again. We did finally figured out that we had to wrap our own food. Another issue was the seating, we arrived 6pm on a sunny evening and all tables were free but had reserved signs on. When we asked if anything available the same waiter said “all reserved but the last one at the corner is free”...which was not a nice table but we understood as all were reserved. When we left at about 7.15 pm all tables besides one were still free! Go figure... WE CANNOT AT ALL RECOMMEND THE...

Sure, I usually leave only positive and good reviews, but anyways. My objective feedback: 1) very slow service (comparison not to other countries, to Vienna and neighbourhood restaurants), which was an issue as we waited with hungry kids, after 1/2 day traveling to Vienna. 2) Not a polite services (again based on the above criteria), which was not a big issue. Still the prices were above average so I would expect a decent efforts at least 3) Very poor quality of the food. Ok I don't expect Italian quality, but my wife's dish was UNeatable because of the salt (not salty, it WAS ALL SALT), my side dish was the same, as well as the kid's side dishes. We changed my wife's dish, the rest we just left. I noticed afterwords many other comments on that, which is unbelievable to keep doing the same thing over and over again. 4) Cleaning: the place is nice and has old atmosphere, but this does not mean that the tables shall be kept unclean and dirty. So based on the above 2 starts is the absolute...

It's a place of the Viennese cuisine. You will like to book a table inside to feel the mood of the place. However, it's such a quiet place located round the corner that you will enjoy sitting outside also. We visited this restaurant when it was almost 11 PM (as you may know, most of places work until 11-12 PM max) so it was a brilliant find for us. Personnel was very polite and friendly, and served us quickly and in professional manner. They do offer an outstanding shnitzel and local fish along with a lot of traditional garnishes and greens. I would call this place a romantic one with a qulity service. Prices are moderate and meals are quite large. The last but not the least, the speak English really good which is a huge advantage in Vienna. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your visit to Brezlgwölb and make sure to start with brezel :))

Everything we tried was delightful, and I can’t quite pinpoint my favourite dish since we enjoyed everything! The warm, freshly baked pretzel was especially enchanting, and the soups were packed with flavour. As for the goulash, the meat was tender and cut like butter. We truly savoured it all. The restaurant is nestled in a peaceful courtyard, creating a wonderful atmosphere. We ended up lingering longer to enjoy additional drinks and fully absorb the ambiance. Our server was an absolute joy; she was friendly and made ordering a breeze. Her warm demeanor definitely kept us there longer. Considering what we had, especially being in the city center, we found everything to be delightful and well-priced. This spot was one of the favourite spots we ate in.

What a disappointment! Despite the pleasant ambiance, the overall experience fell short. We were the only guests outdoors, but had to wait for approximately 10 minutes before being able to place our order. The cappuccino, unfortunately, was the worst I've ever tasted in Vienna, and the salad accompanied by mushrooms was equally underwhelming. The strudel turned out to be overcooked with unappetising apples inside. After attempting a small bite, I simply couldn't bring myself to finish it. Adding to the disappointment, the service was quite unfriendly. In protest, we chose not to leave a tip, which prompted the waiter to hand us the receipt indignantly without even saying goodbye.
