Learn moreFirst. This place was found thanks to recommendation of our AirBnb host in Vienna. If we were walking around the city we could get lost and unable to find this restaurant.
We ordered traditional dishes: Schnitzel, tafelspitz, kaiserschmarrn. All of this cost us 60€, whichbis pretty expensive. But! The dishes were enormously huge, that after eating one Schnitzel and tafelspitz shared for 2 persons we were so full and sad that there is a dessert waiting for us.
Taste. First you get a compliment - various delicious breads and cream cheese. The food was perfect, just perfect. Meat was soft but Schnitzel batter was crunchy, and it goes with cranberry sauce and sour salad. Tafelspitz has wonderful vegetables inside, three huge pieces of beef and nice warming broth. It also goes with a puff of fried potatoes. You will also have sour cream and horseradish sauce. Dessert is warm sweet and creamy. Definitely not my favorite one though, but we really enjoyed raisins deeped into rum.
Service The stuff there is extremely competent and speaks English fluently. They always ask is everything okay and whether you are happy. And we were.
Interior. Pretty European interior with cosy tables, white tablecloths.
Toilets. Extremely clean and cosy, offering terry towels, hand cream, and...
Read moreBeautiful little restaurant on a quiet cobbled street in a postcard setting. Fresh roses on the tables, cotton table clothes and napkins. Generous portion of veal schnitzel (watch out as some places will serve you pork or chicken) perfectly cooked. Steak cooked to perfection. Food served hot. Quite expensive but you pay for what you get and this was the best meal we had in Vienna. Unfortunately, it ended on a sad note. Your waiter was extremely rude when it came to paying the bill. I was planning to give 10% of the bill in tips...Your waiter shouted at us "how much tip?". Perhaps it would be more polite to firstly ask your customers if everything was OK with the meal. Then you could ask would you like to leave a tip? Instead your waiter was abrupt, intimidating and insistant. He insisted on us adding a tip before we tapped in our code. I refused to give a tip because of this. In all other restaurants in Vienna we left a tip without the waiter saying would you like a tip. It's such a shame! I have noted that you reply to similar comments by saying you can't watch over your staff all the time. Your staff are your responsibility and are damaging your business! Please think about training them to be polite and to not force customers. I can't recommend your restaurant...
Read moreThis place was a delight: the food, the atmosphere, the drinks! As I was the only vegetarian at the table, I struggled a little to find something. There were 2 options in the menu, that was it. So bear that in mind if you are a vegetarian. I didn’t see vegan options but I could be wrong. I only gave 4 stars because the person who took our order was really rude and impolite. As we asked, what was the „special of the day„ he said „we serve only what’s in the menu“. As I insisted and told that they have a placard outside with a recommendation, he just started to look for it in my menu and pointed at something. As my daughter ordered a dish from the kids menu, he didn’t have any clue what she was ordering and kept insisting to oder from the menu. At the end he said he just started 2 weeks ago and doesn’t know the menu that well. He said that as I should give him a brake. If he wasn’t so rude and unprofessional it wouldn’t have bothered me that he also was so lost at his work place. At some point we got served from another person witch was great. I didn’t see if they noticed that he was rude/lost or that we just got lucky. This place hat so much history in its walls that I find it sad to be ruined from...
