This is the first restaurant which I have to comment in three languages. ---- The comment will also appear in my social media sites, if I was not that lazy. We had dinner there about 2 hours ago. I decided to give one star before finishing the dinner ---- this star is for the design of buildings and two ladies who served us. Shortly summarized, this restaurant is noway for Chinese guests. There is one page on the menu for Chinese guests, which indicantes that those dishes would be authentic. For some special dishes (well-known Sichuan dishes) people have to pay extra if you want them authentic. ---- I know many "Chinese imbiss" or something like that in Europe. They are not authentic at all, but they don't pretend to be either. A lot of cold dishes taste just the same, no matter what they are called in the menu. Just red oil and salty and spicy, that's all. Even worse is, the dishes for Chinese guests are expensive but filled with mor than half vegetables, although they should mean more meat etc. from their Chinese names in the menu. An elder waiter definately knows nothing about service. Well, you might feel nice from him, if you have a western face. This random is just an epitome of this restaurant overall. They care nothing about the Chinese guests. I just wonder how they managed to have 30 years in Vienna. If it were in Düsseldorf or Berlin, for example, I doubt it would make it for one month. An absolutely NO, specially for Chinese tourists who visit Vienna. Try to spend your (less) money somewhere else, for example Ribs of Viennna.

I enjoyed my lunch at Sichuan, mostly because of the beautiful Chinese garden, but the food was disappointing. The restaurant's location is spectacular; the restaurant within a gorgeous walled garden at the edge of the Donaupark. If you can get a table outside in the garden, it's a beautiful spot to eat. I had the lunch special which cost 10 Euro including dessert. The starter was "spicy cucumber salad" which was fine. The main course was stir-fried duck with vegetables & steamed rice. The duck had been extremely overcooked; it had already been cooked before it was stir-fried and recooked. Since it had been cooked so many times and for so long, it had a tough, dry, unpleasant texture, which is unfortunate; I'd expect it to be succulent. The vegetables in the dish were fine, but lacking in flavour. Thankfully, they provided soy sauce & chili sauce that I could use to season the food. The dessert was deep-fried banana. Lychee juice was fine (3.60 Euro) Service was good.

The location is stunning! Quite unique for Vienna as there is a large outdoor area with bridges, koi fish, turtles and it just looks like a beautiful Chinese garden. The food is quite nice too with a big selection of dishes for a rather big price as well. The staff is what made me sure that I will absolutely never come here again. Our waiters were by far the rudest waiters I have ever come across in Vienna (and that’s a big accomplishment as most Viennese waiters tend to be unfriendly anyway). From the second we entered that restaurant we felt like we had done something wrong because we were treated like absolute crap. One waiter in particular was beyond words. He was condescending, passive aggressive and even managed to play stupid when we told him off for his behavior. My son wanted a juice which I had to order seven times before it finally arrived. It’s a never again from us!

SUCH A SHAME THIS PLACE ISN'T THE SAME ANYMORE. Been coming here since I was a child. It used to be a restaurant everyone used to look forward to, and brought international visitors to. Therefore, we gladly got excited to eat there as a returning Wiener group!

Service: Much snappier than was necessary for a slow Sunday dinner crowd. But that can be excused if the food were good.

FOOD: Here is where my heart breaks- I have always; since I can remember; have gotten the Tiger prawns in the spicy pork sauce. THAT WAS THE ONLY EATABLE DISH IT TURNS OUT. Sub-par from memory and too salty for my liking- but like I said- it was the only thing we could eat.

We ordered their authentic style Beef stir fry- and even now- two days later I'm afraid that taste will come back into my mouth. It tasted like someone accidentally spilled Jaegermeister (or whatever medical root they use to make it) on my food. The taste kept building up, and it was quite disgusting, I don't know if a bug fell into their food, or if they got the recipe wrong. Everyone at the table deemed it as inedible. Therefore we asked the waiter what was special in it; and even picked out as many of the dry spices we could find- THIS IS WHERE THE LACK IN CAPABILITY WAS TRANSPARENT.

First excuse from the waiter: Its just too spicy for you! (NO SIR WE EAT SPICIER- and even ask for extra chilis) Second excuse: You are not used to the Szechuan peppers (NO SIR- we've grown up with the Chinese our entire lives- and we cook their food) Third excuse: its late when you arrived, so the cooks cooked in a hurry (REALLY SIR?? REALLY??) Fourth excuse: The standard cook is sick, and we have interns cooking today... (NOT SOLD SIR)

HMMMMM that is when we decided to look around at the other tables. The same waiter was apologising to our neighbouring table- saying "I'm so sorry for the issue. I hope you will still return". A visit to the Loo was proof that someone had gotten violently ill the same day already (or their cleaning personnel is also out sick).

Ambience: Same as always, no complaints. But I rather not get sick from my food, or be deemed crazy when I know the dish was not prepared like it was supposed to.

All in all. We will not be returning any time soon. The entire evening we kept swishing our mouthes out, dreading this horrible taste will crawl...

This is the first review I write, which says a lot. We came here because we saw some good reviews, good prices ánd that it was authentic Sichuan. We were looking forward to it because my girlfriend (she is from Sichuan province) wanted to try some authentic Sichuan food. Our two main dishes were nice, but the side dishes were not at all authentic (fried bread and guo tie) they are way too expensive portion/quality wise (4 dumplings for 4.8 and 4 slices of bread 2.8 excuse me??) really a let down. We don't mind paying for quality, but this was not the case!

Two of the waiters (elderly guys) were REALLY rude and rushed from the beginning. He asked me to order drinks twice and said one person one drink and refused to give me one more cup for tea. He was impatient, pushy and unfriendly to us when we were a bit slow to order. His attitude destroyed the whole experience to be honest. We did not even want to eat anymore, but stayed because we expected good food. Which was sadly not fully the case ... The garden was nice though, but we will certainly...
