You can say what you want about Viennese Coffee House Culture (VCHC) but it’s not all about imperial flair, though it’s much about it.

And in contrast to the aristocratic atmosphere of a Konzert Café Schwarzenberg for instance here we find ourselves in this lovely, cosy, WiFi supported coffee shop called Café Jonas Reindl, named after the tram hub Jonas-Reindl (at Schottentor) to honor Franz Josef Jonas, a Viennese mayor and later Bundespräsident (president) of Austria.

As you can see in the picture above (and good observers also recognize me in the photo) this Café has plenty of sunshine all-day long until the evening hours (until the Café closes Monday to Friday at 19:30 / 7:30 pm and Saturday’s at 21:30 / 9:30 pm) and through the whole year due to its convenient location at Sigmund-Freud-Park right next to the University of Vienna, Vienna’s main University, established in 1365, what makes it one of the oldest Universities in the world.

Also in the grey and gloomy winter months Vienna has also its fair share of this sunny location can be a true life-savior. The patio is ideal to collect all the sun Vienna has to offer.

Inside Café Jonas Reindl it feels a bit like being at Starbucks but Café Jonas Reindl’s prices are much more reasonable. You order your choice at the counter and soon after the very friendly staff brings your order to your table.

And to your delicious coffee you get also a glass of water to keep everything in balance if you know what I mean, since water is healthy and it’s the most healthy you can get in any coffee shop.

Above it catches your eye in no time that my cappuccino comes from heart. The coffee is creamy as the poppy-seed cake is fluffy. Both are super delicious.

With Love! Dr. Dr....

Upon my visit to Jonas Reindl Coffee Roasters, right at the avant-garde of Vienna's third-wave coffee movement, I discovered more than just a cup of coffee—it was a holistic experience for the senses. The modern decor, with its open space and natural light, set the stage for what was to be a masterclass in coffee brewing. Their signature single-origin roast, meticulously sourced and roasted on-site, was a revelation. Each sip boasted a complex profile of flavors, with a crisp acidity and a delightful fruity undertone that spoke of its origin. The baristas, true artisans, were eager to share their knowledge, discussing the bean's journey from farm to cup. The precision of their craft was evident in the perfectly extracted espresso, with a flavor so profound and layered it lingered long after the last drop. At Jonas Reindl, the dedication to sustainably sourced coffee and the celebration of its natural characteristics provided a contemporary twist to Vienna's rich coffee heritage. This café is a must-visit for those looking to savor coffee that is thoughtfully crafted and served with...

I come to the coffee shop almost every weekend, latte and americano are always great, tried the cold brew for the first time, and really didn't like it. It tastes awfully sour, leaves a bitter taste in the mouth like a medicine. I've tried cold brew all over the city, it's the first time I couldn't swallow it. When I expressed the dissatisfaction to the staff, she told me it's your taste it's not our coffee's problem, so we can exchange it but you have to pay for a second one. Very poor customer experience. I never had to return a drink in a coffee shop, and never had been told that it's your taste that's the problem, and wouldn't exchange a single coffee for a regular. I was very disappointed, and didn't think I would come back again.

However, the barista made a nice gesture 30 minutes later. He dropped by the table and gave me a stamped card for a free coffee in the future. It makes a huge difference when a business values customer feedback, and not drive customers away over a 3.60 euro experience. I appreciated...

One of the better coffee spots we tried in Vienna, specifically referring to the coffee taste and environment. We didn't had any food when we were here. It is conveniently located near public transportation and also there are parking lots nearby. With regards to the coffee, we got to choose the variety of beans for our drink which we have not seen much in other coffee. We tried out 2 Americanos (my dad and I had one each) with different beans and the flavors really stood out. The Los Alpes beans tasted more creamy and bold while the Planadas tasted more fruity. The coffee tasting experience was very nice. They also sell their beans and other coffee equipment. My sister even bought 2 bags home. The place was packed when we arrived, with many people working on their laptops. It is also pet friendly. For those looking to enjoy the view, there is outside seating with clear views of the Votivkirche, a neo-Gothic church built in 1879.
