It is with great regret that I pen this review, as I had harbored high expectations for what I assumed would be a simple yet gratifying culinary experience. Alas, this establishment managed to turn the modest art of toast into a masterclass of mediocrity.
Upon entry, I was immediately struck by the decor—or, more accurately, the distinct lack thereof. The ambiance can only be described as sterile, a soulless expanse of cold, uninspired design, compounded by harsh, unflattering lighting that did nothing to create a welcoming atmosphere. If one were trying to evoke the warmth of a hospital cafeteria, mission accomplished.
The service, or lack thereof, was truly remarkable in its lethargy. One does not expect to wait 30 minutes for two toasts. Yet, here we were, left to wonder if our bread was being hand-milled on site. When the toasts finally arrived, it became abundantly clear why they had taken so long: the ingredients tasted distinctly store-bought, devoid of any freshness or artisanal quality. It was as though we had paid for the privilege of being served something that could just as easily have been prepared in the comfort of one’s own kitchen.
The drinks, intended to complement the meal, were equally disappointing. Both the coffee and matcha were entirely devoid of character, tasting as though they had been sourced from the most generic of suppliers. Bland is an understatement.
In conclusion, while I had anticipated an indulgent yet simple meal, what I received was a stark reminder that not all things labeled “artisan” are worthy of such distinction. This establishment could benefit greatly from investing in both its service and its ambiance—or, perhaps, a dictionary entry...
Read moreCoffee is great, food - everything on sweet brioche buns, but that’s the thing of the place. I liked my Salmon toast. My gripe is with service. When the time came to pay, I opted to pay with my card, which is travel US card. I tapped and saw the selection screen between USD and EU and saw that the girl rapidly clicked USD. I said I want to pay in EU - your prices are in EU and I want to pay in EU as my bank has the best conversion rate. The girl proceeded to say that the owner is agains it and quickly processed the payment agains my protests. I wasn’t told I would be charged in USD - I just saw it on the machine. I wasn’t given a chance to pay with cash either when I saw that I would be charged in USD, the girl didnt even stop or slowed down, she even speeded up to process quicker imo. Like the girl saw USD and that’s what they want to get no matter what. The thing is that the rate is 10% higher than the regular conversion, so I was charged more for the food than If I would pay in euro. This fact left bad impression on the place - I never had this problem before, and I travel a lot. So I don’t recommend this place for travelers - there are better options around really.
TLDR. Food is ok, they charge inflated USD price if you pay with international cards. Do not recommend for travelers or travel...
Read moreI’m a toast lover, when I saw this place I had to visit. The beginning of the experience was a bit negative, we need to wait quite a bit to a place to sit. Which was fine, as the place is small and doesn’t have many tables (5 or 6), I was ok with waiting to be sited time. The problem was, it took more than 20 minutes to our order to be taken after we sat down, plus the caos of people getting in and out, there were a bunch of people trying to get a sit and order to take away, the place was crowded. Our order didn’t take long to arrive and the food was delicious! I ordered Classic toast and the Biscoff french toast, both of them were superb. The bread was fresh and fluffy, the combination with the pesto, avocado, egg and sweet mayo was perfect. The biscoff toast was also a delicious mix with the caramelized banana and the caramel. My suggestion is, go in a weekday, maybe is less crowded than a Sunday. If you go in a weekend day, make piece in your heart that it have a...
