Did you know the Japanese embassy orders from this place? Kojiro. Honestly, if it’s good enough for Japan’s official face to the world, it’s good enough for me. Now, Kojiro looks like your average Japanese corner nook in Chuo Ward, Osaka. But they don’t skimp on their chirashi. Fat slices of salmon, delicious saba, and the sushi warm, bouncy sushi rice. Couple of annoyances, though. The wasabi (aka, green disappointment) tasted like nothing, even when I dumped two portions into my soy sauce. Of course, it’s not real wasabi. But then again, who outside Japan is eating real wasabi? It’s rarer than a polite YouTube comment. And they charge for water, which is not declared on the menu. And they’re cash-only, but you wouldn't know until you read the last page of the menu. Honestly, they should just put up a neon sign outside to tell you that. And yes, the prices are high. I remember the days when I could get a chirashi for 8 bucks (in a middle of nowhere in America). Now it’s 17 euros in Vienna. But in today's market, that’s practically a bargain. It’s either that or sell a kidney for bluefin tuna. Warm service. Lovely people. Five stars. I hate my...
Read moreWe have loved Kojiro’s 1,2 and 3 (all around the neighborhood) sushi price/quality ratio from the first time we tried them. We have ordered countless of times: from dinner for 2 to orders for 8 (for parties you can borrow a nice traditional platter as the pic attached for a reasonable deposit and no extra cost).
I have also experienced extreme kindness from their service - truly exceptional without getting into details!

UPDATE July 2021 I have gone and ordered from Kojiro countless times since my first 5 star review. Unfortunately though, I feel the need to downgrade it since the quality of the fish has really gone down 😪.
To be honest, many of the places have raised prices after they re-opened after the lock down. Kojiro took another way: kept the prices but lowered the quality. I would’ve preferred the...
Read moreI used to be a big fan of Kojiro and have had lunches there constantly. Either Bento boxes or sushi sets. I had another lunch meal yesterday, that in my opinion is a big regression from kojiro quality. First the duck meat was not very warm. Then the sushi and maki that comes with it was replaced by a salmon maki and cucumber maki. Salmon maki was poorely wrapped, as visible on the picture and had less salmon in it than usual. So i would say not bad this time, but definitely worse than...
