McDonald's Taborstraße — Restaurant in Vienna

IF you pass on this McDonalds because of the stupid negative comments left here by angry customers for reviews, you will miss out on the best McDonald's in Vienna unless it has changed since I am gone. I worked at a US McDonald's in Maine during my senior high-school year in 1979 at one of the cleanest well managed stores I have ever witnessed in a long, long time. If you know what I mean, you can see, smell, and know the difference from a well run store compared to NOT! I also attended and changed high schools 5 times in 4 years. I have lived in over 13 different states in the USA. I have experienced McDonald's in upper, middle, and lower income areas, so I have more than enough experience. Maybe compared to a 5-star reservation only restaurant, with a server and +$100 plates, this store might rate lower than 5? But compared to other McDonald's in Vienna and the USA, it is off the charts +15 stars, in my humble opinion. It's super clean, and the food and service are amazing even if I only speak and write English. Reading these negative comments made me a little angry. I had lived in Vienna from 7-2017 to 11-2023. No matter where you go in Vienna unless it is the outdoors public restroom or a train station, you will experience the same concerning the use of a businesses restrooms. US born and raised Americans will definitely appreciate this store as I did. I never had a bad experience here in 6 years, even if I only ate there once to 3...

Terrible reviews, and unfortunately, my experience was similar.

There were three orders up in total at the time. I didn’t get a receipt and, as a result, didn’t know my order number. I approached the staff to ask for a receipt, but got no response. So, I waited.

When my order was called, the staff member asked for my number. I explained that I didn’t know it, but guessed it was one of the three numbers displayed. He then asked if I was [specific number], which I confirmed. He handed me my order, and we proceeded to the register.

At the register, he asked me at which machine I placed the order. (Keep in mind, the place was empty except for three people, not counting staff.) I replied, and then watched him tap away on his screen for a few minutes before eventually telling me he couldn’t do anything.

Bear in mind, the situation was far more comically amusing than I can put into words, but the lack of communication and competence (or maybe just sleep deprivation, xD) was honestly sad. To add to the experience, claiming that they "don’t speak German" was an extreme overstatement—they barely managed to communicate at all. And, of course, they got the order wrong and...

Probably the worst McDonalds that can be found in Vienna. If you are looking for an unfriendly, confusing and frustrating experience, then you have arrived at the right place! Some aspects of „fine“ fast food experience include but are not limited to (let yourself be surprised ☺️): missing items from the order (make sure to check your bag) payment systems not working properly, thus leading to chaos among the employees and customers, cold or just unappealing meals interesting waiting times (kind of like the lottery), employees being annoyed by your presence, high prices, which possibly isn’t McDonalds‘ fault (just take extra 30 minutes and eat in a restaurant).
