Merak — Restaurant in Vienna

I'm so happy to discover this place in Vienna! People are super friendly, accommodating, kind and ready to serve with the smile. The whole atmosphere and service reminded me of times when I visited Sarajevo. It's truly a gem here in the city! It was four of us, my husband being from Guatemala and in love with Balkan food (more than me!) totally approved! And two friends, a couple from Greece and a local Auatrian, they also loved it. The place is clean and decorated lovely. The whole thing, small remarks... first is the music, just a bit loud.. for me it was so wonderful to hear the old rock from the region and even to that volume but just to think that maybe not everyone would be used to that high volume. Are you a big fan of Balkan cuisine? Look no further - you have arrived!! Boy oh boy... If you ever just walked by, the seductive scent might have lured you closer and should you dare to sit, you will soon enjoy the grilled delights. Cevapcici to die for, fresh, tasty bread and aivar to round it off, craving for more. The staff are all very welcoming, forthcoming and attentive. You should go for a turkish coffee as well, to absolutely round off your authentic Balkan experience. 🙌

Had this place on my bucket list for quite some time never quite made it.

However yesterday we were in the vicinity and managed to finally visit.

Service was attentive and extremely friendly our order came out quick. Once you place your order the food is prepared fresh on the grill and the bread comes out equally fresh and warm.

Our mixed plate for two was plentiful and the grilled meat tasted amazing - big shout out to the bread too.

The place is clean, tidy and with a nice interior.

We can recommend this place whole heartedly.
