Maybe bad luck?! We came here for the first time and without reservation I can tell you (especially on a weekend) leave any hope to get a spot. We did not have one too and waited for around 2 hours, to then receive a standing spot. We waited at a table in this restaurant at the entrance used as a front of the chapel, where service was actually really nice. Too bad I missed the name of the server who served us, because he was really great, smiling and accommodating, who made the waiting more pleasant. Once inside the actual bar, ambient is curated in every detail, really cool and original but the staff feels a bit pretentious and overrated. We manage with a bit of luck, after ordering our drinks, to get a sitting table. Behind us they put a standing table of four ppl which made it impossible for them to run the drinks in between. The inevitable happened and I got a tray full of shots spilled on my back. Server offered the 2 drinks we had on the house and apologised but after having so many expectations for this place and waited so long to try their cocktail all was really disappointing. Let’s not talk of the fact that there were no available bathroom to use and no snacks were served for us. For my experience not worth the hype

If you love a good speakeasy, this is a must-visit! They absolutely deliver on cocktails – some of the best I’ve had. The theme is Catholicism, and the storytelling throughout the menu is incredible, with clever touches like a shot for each of the seven deadly sins. The cocktails are presented with a lot of flair – lights, props, smoke – turning each drink into a little performance. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but our strategy worked perfectly: pick one that speaks to you, then ask the bartender for guidance. They were so friendly and knowledgeable, and their recommendations were spot-on. If you have the time, try the Leche de Tigre cocktail (yes, not very on-theme, but trust me) – it’s a fresh, salty, sour surprise. If you enjoy a good Bloody Mary, it’s in the same flavour family but even more unique. I heard from the bartender it might leave the menu soon, which is a shame because it’s one of the most memorable cocktails I’ve had in a long time. Whenever you’re in Vienna and want a fun night with excellent drinks, this place is well worth it. It’s also a great spot for a date – the drinks and their incredible presentations give you plenty to talk about.

The Chapel Bar is one of the premiere bars in Vienna. It's a decently well-hidden speakeasy that serves beautiful and on theme cocktails. There are 4 broad categories which go from "Strong and Aromatic" which tend to go for the stranger flavours, yet are absolutely delicious "Highballs and Fizzy" which are delightfully bubbly with pleasingly complex flavours "Fruity and Easy Drinking" are as implied dangerously sweet "Herbal and Fresh" give exactly what is ordered. The presentation is always exquisite, and not shying away from being silly, which is delightful. As of September 2025, the prices are extremely competitive. Bars of a similar calibre in Vienna tend to cost +3€ more per drink. The staff are experienced, friendly, and professional. A triple threat in Vienna. They always have their eyes on you, no matter how packed the small speakeasy was. You must come here and always get a reservation around a week in advance. For a great experience, come to The Chapel Bar!

Oh what a charm! Since there already have been a tremendous amount of praises, I am not the first to give it away, but this bar is just stunning! First off, if you visit for the first time, you might need a minute to figure out how to get inside. ;) Important note right here - beware, you might not be able to score a table, coming around unannounced, in too big of a group or simply unlucky to end up there on a busy night. This venue is popular and has a lot of regulars, try to get a reservation well before you plan to go there, on weekends even 3 weeks ahead. Let's get back to the experience - Next up, you will be greeted by one of the bar men and placed according to group size and vacant seats. Soak in the atmosphere, study the menu or dare to go for a recommendation. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Won't give away too much, but the whole concept is very well thought through, the craftsmanship of the drinks just superb and the quality and styling of the drinks, something else.

We had a great time, enjoyed ourselves, the vibe, the music, the drinks (had already eaten, but will have bar food next time for sure, looked amazing) and especially enjoyed the chats with the bar men, very insightful and...
