SELLENY'S Bar — Restaurant in Vienna

How to start a review of a place that was unexpected but a great add on to our citytrip? I just don't know... but for short: are you looking for a fun night out with good food and such a hard working and dedicated team? This is the place to be. Just go and I am sure you will have a great night.

But as mentioned that was just the short version. Now the longer one:

The first day we arrived in Vienna we just went to grab something to eat and drink a glass of wine. The ambiance when you walk in is cosy but also modern the music is good and not too much. So as you can expect there was more than 1 glass of wine.. maybe we should have listened to the waiter that we should have ordered a bottle. We did not listen... my tip... listen to the staff they are right ;).

The second day we wanted to eat somewhere else and we had such a bad experience that we didn't know how quick we wanted to go back here. And yet again the food and drinks were very good.

I can go on about the food and drinks but then there is the staff. I really want to make sure that they are mentioned in this review.

We all know how hard it can be to create a team that has passion and is willing to "go the extra mile". It is safe to say that this team is willing to give you great service and make sure you walk away with a smile on your face. They work so hard (without breaking a sweat and keep smelling nice 😜) just to make sure you have the best night.

So, yes we would absolutely tell you to go here. We for certain will go back if we ever go back...

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share our frustrating experience at selleny’s. Here’s why I strongly advise against dining here:

On two separate visits, the waiting times were absurdly long. During our last visit, we waited for 30 minutes for a simple cake order, which never arrived. We eventually left in disappointment. On another occasion, our friends had a similar experience, waiting 35 minutes for goulash soup. Such delays are simply unacceptable in a professional dining establishment.

Adding to the frustration was the attitude of our waiter. Not only was he unprofessional, but he also came across as unkind and utterly indifferent to our situation. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the excessive wait, which demonstrates a lack of customer care that is alarming for any service-based business.

The ambiance was ruined by the excessively loud music. It was almost impossible to have a conversation without raising our voices. This, combined with the long waits and poor service, made for an extremely unpleasant dining experience.

We were here during FIFA world cup season and the bar was obviously packed, as a football match was playing. Sadly we were disappointed with the service and it seems like the bar could not cope nor anticipate the crowd and manage the service. Our particular area was only served by 1 waitress and it was abit further away from the main area of the bar and hence it was extremely difficult to get the attention of any service staff. The waitress herself was slow and inattentive to the calls of the customers. We had to keep walking up to her (she was standing at her counter - not sure doing what) multiple times to get her attention for ordering, meal requests and even getting the bill. Half the time she was not even around to attend to us. The table beside us were also disgruntled at the service - we had to help them catch her attention to get their bill as well. Food was not fantastic but not horrible - pity the service really made the experience unpleasant for us, so much so that I feel compelled to write this review....
