As vegetarians we had somehow strayed into this place, only realising our oversight when we, to a gradual panic, began flipping through a menu consisting entirely of pork feet and chicken intestinces. Everyone else in the place were authentically chinese and all having the same hot-pot meat dish. We didn't budge; stayed in character and ordered the only fish-dish from the menu. And hahaha.... what was served up could honestly have been straight out of trout farm in David Cronenberg's ExistenZ: A slimey, sour-hot soup, with a pile of chopped, fatty fish or some other boiled amphibian on a bed of sauerkraut. To eat the concoction we were provided with a stick and saucer. Was all a good laugh. We made a valiant, culture-bridging stab at the dish, but it eventually got too convulsive so we took a picture and made our excuses.

Read moreOrdered the crispy duck with fried rice - the portion and the quality for the price you pay was really just not up to standard. The sauce they had on the side was clearly store bought too. I was almost done with mine when she got hers. The staff were helpful, I guess, but all the staff we interacted with (probably around 4) spoke to us in Chinese and we had to tell them every time that we’re not Chinese… We weren’t offended or anything but I thought that was kind of awkward that they just assumed that we are Chinese without even asking us first. And we are in Vienna after all 😶 Probably won’t...

Food we tried this time:Food is nicely prepared and presented, not too overly oily and I like that special extra kick of numbness!! We asked for the yu-xiang eggplant in vegetarian style (sin carne) which was just delightful! So was the cauliflower pot (which I forgot to take photo!), like the additional cumin kick in it too! The silky tofu beef was great but have to be careful when you eat it - cuz it’s boiling hot!
Environment and service:The waiters are also very nice and polite, clean and smoke free dining environment (not just from the smokers and also from the kitchen!) Look forward to going back...
