There is not ONE time (and I sure tried) I went to this bakery and waiters didn't make me feel as if they were doing me a favor by letting me sit there. At first I thought it was because I went with my 1-year-old baby, but then I went alone and it was the same thing. I went there nicely dressed, poorly dressed, kind, angry... it didn't make a difference. It was always this you're-bothering-me-with-your-presence treatment. They let me sit and wait for 20 minutes (of course, giving me a bad look the whole time) without telling me that I was seated in a self service area (yes, there was a sign on the table, a very small one, and I was talking to my friend like a normal human being so the sign was unfortunately not my priority), and I had to find it out for myself after I went to the bar to ask. Of course, they game me the answer with the rudeness that characterises them, this time decorating it with a sarcastic mocking face. Wake up, Ströck. You're a BAKERY. You're not exclusive. You sure want to look like you are but you're not. You're not a nightclub in which you get to rudely judge people with whatever prejudice you have that day. Even your food is overpriced for the quality you offer (you're a franchise, even if you try to disguise it as a fine bakery by baking a few of your many breads yourself), your meal portions are too small (not because it's an exclusive dish, but because you want to make it look like one), and all this could have been overcome if it wasn't for your disgusting arrogant attitude towards your clients. So humble up and realise you're no better than the people...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. It pains me to write this review. I used to come here every week once or twice and usually the gentlemen working there are very friendly. Today was the exception. I went with a guest who it was their first time visiting Vienna and I suggested this place to have breakfast. We did not have a reservation and we saw on the table that a reservation was there for 9:00 am. The food was good as always but was a bit late. We paid at 8:55, gave a tip, and went to the restroom. I come back and one of the gentlemen working was basically kicking us out on exactly 1 minute even though the couple who were waiting did not complain. The gentleman continued arguing , even though his colleague told him we ate and just paid, and told me something about how punctuality works in German speaking countries. I have been living here and Germany for 10 years and was never ever told something like this. Maybe the gentleman was stressed or was having a rough day. But he left a bad first impression of Vienna on my friend who was visiting and turned a returning customer to someone who will probably never come back again. This is definitely not the way to treat your loyal returning customer. I'm very disappointed and I'm not sure if I'll ever return. I'm only giving 2 stars because the gentleman apologized at the end after he realized he did a mistake but the damage was...
Read moreWould not recommend. Went for a late breakfast (around 10:30am Saturday), so the place was busy. Got a seat at the bar, and service was initially friendly. However, service collapsed after I was served. No refill for the small water glass, and had a lot of trouble getting the check. 10 minutes after finishing, I flagged down the waitress to get the check. She acknowledged, but then went about other work. After 15 more minutes (server now seemed to be avoiding eye contact), I more aggressively flagged down the manager to get the check. The place was busy, but also seemed well-staffed- not sure what the delay was. I was at the bar, so it was very easy for multiple people to see I was done and waiting. Food was also not great. Ordered the vegan breakfast - seems like they favored appearance (lots of turmeric in the scamble) over flavor. Atmosphere was nice, but...
