Ströck-Brot GmbH is one of the largest Austrian bakery companies based in Vienna. I think the pastries in their regional bakeryshops are very good, which is why I expected very high quality at the flagship restaurant - And my expectations were met. The restaurant is very nice and, above all, very cozy. The service is polite. There is no match for the range - in terms of the pastries but also in terms of breakfast combinations. I had the Eggs Benedict and was convinced of the quality. The French toast and waffles are also highly recommended. The Ströck bakery was founded in 1970 in Vienna-Donaustadt by Johann Ströck, a master baker from Kittsee in Burgenland. His son Gerhard took over the company in 1977 with the help of his mother Hilda, which at the time had just ten employees and was producing in the cellar at Langobardenstraße 9.

Really really excellent almond croissant - maybe one of the best I’ve ever had. The nougat donut was decent, but best fresh. While the pain au chocolat looked good, the pastry was chewy instead of crispy and was quite hollow. Wouldn’t get again. We also got the Christopher’s breakfast which was solid - yogurt with granola and a sweet strawberry sauce, a boiled egg and a yummy cold ham and cheese sandwich. This was randomly expensive (like 16 euros) but solid and an interesting mix of food. Minus points for the smoking allowed on the terrace and the fact that tap water costs money. Just bring your own water bottle and fill it up at the public water fountain literally across the street (1 min walk from the resto).

A fantastic upgrade from the classic Ströck experience. I tried the focaccia, and it was excellent — and as a chef with experience in baking breads and focaccia, I can say it was really well done: fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The coffee was also very good, smooth and well-prepared, which makes this place just as strong for a quick coffee break as it is for a full meal. The decoration is amazing, creating a warm and stylish atmosphere, and the food is on another level — creative, fresh, and much more elevated than the usual bakery offerings. A great spot for both casual meals and relaxed evenings. Definitely worth visiting if you want to see Ströck in a whole new way.

There is not ONE time (and I sure tried) I went to this bakery and waiters didn't make me feel as if they were doing me a favor by letting me sit there. At first I thought it was because I went with my 1-year-old baby, but then I went alone and it was the same thing. I went there nicely dressed, poorly dressed, kind, angry... it didn't make a difference. It was always this you're-bothering-me-with-your-presence treatment. They let me sit and wait for 20 minutes (of course, giving me a bad look the whole time) without telling me that I was seated in a self service area (yes, there was a sign on the table, a very small one, and I was talking to my friend like a normal human being so the sign was unfortunately not my priority), and I had to find it out for myself after I went to the bar to ask. Of course, they game me the answer with the rudeness that characterises them, this time decorating it with a sarcastic mocking face. Wake up, Ströck. You're a BAKERY. You're not exclusive. You sure want to look like you are but you're not. You're not a nightclub in which you get to rudely judge people with whatever prejudice you have that day. Even your food is overpriced for the quality you offer (you're a franchise, even if you try to disguise it as a fine bakery by baking a few of your many breads yourself), your meal portions are too small (not because it's an exclusive dish, but because you want to make it look like one), and all this could have been overcome if it wasn't for your disgusting arrogant attitude towards your clients. So humble up and realise you're no better than the people...

Extremely disappointed. It pains me to write this review. I used to come here every week once or twice and usually the gentlemen working there are very friendly. Today was the exception. I went with a guest who it was their first time visiting Vienna and I suggested this place to have breakfast. We did not have a reservation and we saw on the table that a reservation was there for 9:00 am. The food was good as always but was a bit late. We paid at 8:55, gave a tip, and went to the restroom. I come back and one of the gentlemen working was basically kicking us out on exactly 1 minute even though the couple who were waiting did not complain. The gentleman continued arguing , even though his colleague told him we ate and just paid, and told me something about how punctuality works in German speaking countries. I have been living here and Germany for 10 years and was never ever told something like this. Maybe the gentleman was stressed or was having a rough day. But he left a bad first impression of Vienna on my friend who was visiting and turned a returning customer to someone who will probably never come back again. This is definitely not the way to treat your loyal returning customer. I'm very disappointed and I'm not sure if I'll ever return. I'm only giving 2 stars because the gentleman apologized at the end after he realized he did a mistake but the damage was...

Would not recommend. Went for a late breakfast (around 10:30am Saturday), so the place was busy. Got a seat at the bar, and service was initially friendly. However, service collapsed after I was served. No refill for the small water glass, and had a lot of trouble getting the check. 10 minutes after finishing, I flagged down the waitress to get the check. She acknowledged, but then went about other work. After 15 more minutes (server now seemed to be avoiding eye contact), I more aggressively flagged down the manager to get the check. The place was busy, but also seemed well-staffed- not sure what the delay was. I was at the bar, so it was very easy for multiple people to see I was done and waiting. Food was also not great. Ordered the vegan breakfast - seems like they favored appearance (lots of turmeric in the scamble) over flavor. Atmosphere was nice, but...
