El Gaucho in Vienna is a true gem for steak lovers, offering a perfect blend of expertly crafted dishes, a chic yet cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service. My visit was inspired by a recommendation from my friend Chef José, and I can confidently say it lived up to the hype.

Service

My waitress, Tina, was outstanding. She provided attentive, professional service and went above and beyond to make the evening special. Her recommendation for a wine pairing with my steak in pepper sauce was absolutely perfect, enhancing the flavors of the dish without overpowering them.

The Meal

The star of the night was the steak in pepper sauce. Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, flavorful, and paired with a creamy, rich sauce that had just the right amount of spice. It’s clear that Chef José and his team are masters of their craft, with a commitment to quality and attention to detail in every plate.

Atmosphere

El Gaucho strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. The stylish décor and relaxed vibe make it an ideal spot for a special dinner or a casual evening out with friends.

Final Thoughts

El Gaucho is a must-visit steakhouse in Vienna, with phenomenal food and service that makes you feel truly valued as a guest. A big thank you to Chef José for the recommendation and to Tina for her flawless service and excellent wine suggestion. This was an unforgettable...

Not worth the money at all. Very awful service. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY PLS LISTEN TO ME

We came in with a reservation yesterday night and was seated upstairs i have requested a nice table for 2 but they decide to put us near this noisy group of 20+ people celebrating an event that is in the middle of the restaurant not even in a private space with no communication to us so we could have a choosing.

Service was awful. Let’s start drinks, i ordered the pear fuzz/fizz and the raspberry garnish had dirt, i brushed it off as it can happen. The main dish that we ordered was a ribeye steak in medium rare. Arrived to us medium well done, i politely ask the waiter to recheck but insisted that it was medium rare after a while he took the meat and have it redone, he offered to refresh my sides but i clearly said no, but then we he served the steak with the sides, still not listening to what we are saying. During the waiting time in between we asked for the drink menu, the whole time none of the waiters (even us waving to call their attention ) came to take our order a second round of drinks.

Not even basic water was offered, no recommendation of food, not even a friendly polite smile from any of the staff on the first floor. Again for the price doesn’t match the quality and the service, better off finding some different...

I had a disappointing experience at El Gaucho at Rochusmarkt on 20 December 2024. From the moment I arrived, the attitude of the receptionist set the tone. When I politely asked about the options, I was met with an irritable response, being told to just look at the menu.

The service didn’t improve from there. I ordered a medium-rare T-bone steak, but what I received was inconsistent—half of it was medium-rare, while the other half was medium-well. When I raised this issue, the staff member brushed it off with a condescending explanation about the cooking process, as if I was supposed to accept that ordering medium-rare means only half the steak would be cooked as requested. I ended up only eating the half that was medium-rare, which was incredibly frustrating considering the price.

What left an even worse impression was the distinct difference in treatment I observed. The receptionist seemed much friendlier and more accommodating to local/Austrian customers. As an Asian guest, I couldn’t help but feel that my concerns and presence were dismissed, which is both disappointing and unacceptable in an establishment of this caliber.

This experience did not meet expectations, and I sincerely hope the management takes feedback like this seriously to improve both their service and...

It’s ok….but nothing wow. First the food. The pictured skewer of beef is not a good deal. The selling point is that you get 5 small cuts of beef in each of the different types offered. But in actual delivery you get 5 chunks of over cooked protein with little distinction. Save the €29 and put it towards a real steak. One of our party got the ribeye and it was spot on. Sides: The fries and the green beans were delicious. The sauces were ridiculously tiny. €4 and €5 Euro each! The tiny ketchup jar didn’t have enough for one order of fries. The BBQ & Chimichura sauces were good, but really, so small as to be a garnish not an actual sauce. Chef: This is simply silly. The service was good. Professional staff. Marred only by our initial seating. We reserved in advance and were pleasantly greeted. Unfortunately we were seated on the pathway between the patio and the kitchen. Our server asked us to move to another table. Poor management, and an unpleasant experience. Atmosphere is very nice. Good seating and a pleasant feeling in the dining area. I’m always impressed by a restaurant with an open kitchen and this design is open, yet tucked away. Clever. Overall a solid 4 Star. But stick to just a steak.

We came on valentine’s day and we honestly had higher expectations, however only the ambience and interiors were impressive. While the restaurant was spacious, well designed, as well as the table setting, we found the food hardly praiseworthy. The steak was mediocre at best, the meat was hard to enjoy as both were too tough and too chewy. Our server was disinterested in interacting with us, and just barely passed the courtesy mark. With that said, that doesn’t reflect their whole service quality, as the servers in the other tables seemed far more engaging and even came by to check on us, as opposed to our main server. I’m reluctant to leave unpleasant reviews, but the evening was rather really disappointing
