My review is long but very helpful. Before I get into details, it’s extremely overpriced, don’t expect service (worst part) and be careful in the Waterpark. There are a lot of drunk, ghetto people. I just stayed there (July/2018). I gave it 2 stars because The Cove Tower is beautiful and has good food (Fish by Andre and Mosaic). Other than that is the worst vacation I ever had. We arrived early to take the kids to the water park. We tried to check in earlier but were told the Tower was booked. We realized after it wasn’t. Still, we got the room past check in time (after 4pm).While waiting we went to enjoy the water park. My mother in law, who has a hard time walking was having a hard time, so I found 2 empty chairs and sat down. A drunk lady ran up to me and got in my face cursing & pushed me cause she said I sat on her chair. Security was next to us and did nothing. I got up and called security before she hit me (she was about to). security took their time. I hid with my mother in law behind him while her whole family was threatening me. Another guest got out of her way to help me and security ignored her. All other guests saw. It was next to the playground with small children and this lady was not immediately escorted out for drunk, disorderly conduct (regardless of her threats) . Unbelievable. To top it off, security asked me to go and file a report. I wanted to, thinking they would help. NO! They tricked us into walking very far with an elderly woman and a 4 year old. I complained so they made my mother in law walk somewhere else to wait so she couldn’t say what happened. When I got to their office, I had the head of security treat me rudely. As this was happening, this lady was still threatening me and was put in another room. I was told I had to go to the police station in town. I’m in another country, just paid over $600 a night to stay at their best part of the resort and after all of this, they told me nothing could be done and said he couldn’t take sides when a crowd of people including a few employees saw what happened. We were maid to walk even longer to the worst chairs they could find at the water park. Later we realized that The Cove/ Reef has a private entrance through the water park! We asked employees for a couple of days where it was, but they refused to tell us. If you have kids, you can’t go through the Cove pool, but there is a couple of pools next to it with plenty of chairs, good/normal guests and a private entrance to rides and lazy river. Back to day of arrival, we got to the Cove and spoke to the manager, COLLETTE. She apologized and promised to tell me where this lady was staying and when she would be leaving so I wouldn’t have to be in fear the rest of the vacation. She never called or answered mine! No, I didn’t get comped for anything either, not even a $10. Gift card. Lol. To top it off, the good rides were closed for 2 days of our 4 day vacation. We were there for our 11 year old kid’s graduation! We did stay 5 days, but water park opens at 10am. Check out is at 11am. Also, water park closes early. Pools close early too. Nothing to do at night or morning. You are forced to buy their expensive buffet breakfasts. Not everyone eats that much for breakfast. The food by the pool is expensive, horrible and no service. When I checked out, I spoke to GERMAL (manager). I calmly explained everything. I told him to please give me an incentive to bring my kids back to go on rides they missed. I did not ask him to comp me for the over expensive horrible vacation we had. I asked him to give me an incentive to Spend more Money! He said he would call me back. He never did. They didn’t seem to like their jobs or guests. Maybe Marriot is the cause of this. I went there when it had the prior owner and it was a million times better. The resort now opens to the cruise ships and public in general so it’s over crowded. It’s a giant ghetto. My advice if you want to go, if someone looks angry, run for your live. Stay at the Cove and pools around the Cove. Food is good but very expensive. Bring...
Read moreImpossible to find a seat, not because there aren't any but because at least half of them are reservation-only but not marked in any way to indicate that. We were told any chairs with towels were reservation only, but then they are terrible at clearing towels despite there being almost too many staff milling around, so you just kind of need to sit down three or four times until you aren't told to move.
The food is better than other areas but takes FOREVER (expect at least 20-30 minutes from ordering to eating) no matter what you order, and they frequently run out of menu items, even ridiculous things like tortilla chips. You also can't bring in any outside food or drink, including from other Atlantis restaurants mere feet away, so you're stuck waiting for the pool restaurant food and drink.
Despite an adults-only pool logically being a place adults want to escape loud noises and general chaos, the music is always far too loud; it's a club atmosphere in a spa setting, and it closes at 6 like the other pools.
The water is also much colder than most of the other pools because they aren't heated and they don't get any sun most of the day.
You're better off going to the Cascades pool right next door: not a lot of families, quieter, faster food, and no one shooing you away from empty chairs like you're a...
Read moreThe Cove pool is adults only and was not too busy when we were there (before 10 AM). It closes early, though, at 6 PM.
There are 2 pools-- 1 bigger pool and 1 smaller pool. The water in the bigger pool was cold in mid-April, but the smaller pool had warmer water. There wasn't anyone in either pool when we were there-- everyone was in their lounges, including us-- but again, this was before 10 AM and the water was cold, so maybe it was too early/cold?
I didn't see any showers by the pool, so I guess guests aren't expected to shower before going into the pool, which I find kind of gross. One guy dipped his feet to rinse off sand, and so I decided not to go swim in it-- good thing this happened on my...
