Disappointed, Sick, and Let Down - A Vacation I Was Looking Forward To Disappointed, Sick, and Let Down: A Vacation I Was Looking Forward To I recently stayed at Harborside Resort at Atlantis through my aunt’s timeshare, which she couldn’t use this year. I covered the maintenance fee myself, excited for a much-needed break but what I experienced was nothing short of unacceptable, especially for a resort of this caliber and one that caters to timeshare owners. Upon check-in on Sunday Aril 28, 2025 morning, I immediately noticed a musty, mouldy smell upon entering unit 1708. I tried to dismiss it at first, hoping it would improve with some air circulation, but it only got worse. As someone with low immunity, asthma, a migraine disorder, and lung damage from COVID, I am extremely sensitive to environmental triggers and unfortunately, this unit was full of them. I like to flag that I travel with a personal air purifier as well as one for around my neck. The washroom was visibly unclean, with the shower curtain covered in mould and previous guests’ debris still present. The phone in the unit was also not working, which made it difficult to reach staff without physically leaving the room. I immediately raised these concerns with the front desk, explaining my health vulnerabilities and the risks involved. I expected a higher level of care, concern, and urgency but the staff’s response was inadequate and delayed. Sadly, I became extremely ill within the first few days, and so did my travel companion. What was supposed to be a rejuvenating escape became a medical setback. This forced me to shorten my stay and leave on Thursday May 1. I had to pay an extra airline change fee and return home early, forfeiting the thousands of dollars it cost to get there not to mention the emotional toll of having a long-anticipated trip ruined. I am now back home and in the process of detoxifying and recovering. It is deeply troubling that a resort operating under the Atlantis brand would allow units in this condition to be occupied especially by timeshare guests, who invest yearly in maintenance fees with the expectation of quality accommodations and standards. I will also be contacting the Canadian Consulate in The Bahamas to report the health risks and my experience, as this was not only disappointing but dangerous. This is not how a luxury timeshare experience should unfold. I hope management takes this review seriously and investigates the conditions and standards of their rooms, because no one should fall ill on a vacation they worked so hard to take.

It was great to have your own Villa just be prepared if you plan on washing dishes and doing laundry. Bring your supplies from home such as dish soap dish tabs and detergent for washing a scrubie and dish wrags. The kitchen has bare bones for cooking with. If you use something from home pack it take you it will save you a headache having good utensils or a decent fry pan. Also the units do. Not have ovens... shopping at the grocery store on the island is outrageously expensive but still cheaper that going out to eat. A pound of bacon is 12.99 it was like hormel, and a half gallon of Haagan Daz was 35.00 $ but ice cream out is like 10$ a person. The pools close early 6pm and nothing else to do for evening. You can however ride the free shuttle to any if the other hotels on property they they do run frequent. And do bring a good pair of tennis shoes. Walking about 20,000 steps or so a day. We did walk on the marina side of the resorts you can gaze a some stunning yachts and even shops are open late there but are a bit pricey. If you need just a few things you can walk to a small grocery store near buy. They do not carry much but does have a little. Also in the shopping center they have a liquor store and you can buy your rum or beer it is back behind Dunkin donuts. You need to walk threw a small market first and the liquor is in the back of the store. Some tips: 1. Bring good tennis shoes 2. Bring your own snorkel gear if you have some. You can snorkel at the Cove beach. 3. Pack dish soap dishwasher tabs and laundry pods and dish wrags and a scrubie for dishes. 4. Ladies if you like floaties pack it. 5. Plenty of ocean safe sunscreen we want to keep the coral alive. 6. Don't feed the fish in the ocean it can draw the sharks in. 7. Do your research ahead for your excusuins. 8. If your tired and you have kids bring along a gaming system. Pools close early and internet costs money daily. Or family games. 9. Pack some dry goods from home such as cereal snacks you will save alot. It would be worth it to pay the extra baggage fees. 10. Not much for kids to do under 48" slides would be out of the question so only the pools and beaches.

A Week of Bahamian Bliss at Harborside! My recent 7-day stay at the Atlantis Harborside Resort was truly a beautiful experience, and I can't recommend it enough. While check-in was a bit more difficult than anticipated, it was a minor blip in what turned out to be an otherwise absolutely amazing vacation. Once settled, we quickly embraced the relaxed island vibe. The dining was a highlight, especially for seafood lovers like us. We indulged in incredibly fresh fish at various restaurants throughout the resort – each meal was a delight. Our rooms were awesome, spacious and comfortable, providing a great sanctuary after a day of fun. My only minor suggestion would be for the resort to provide complimentary bottled water in the rooms, especially given the heat. The harborside itself is incredibly beautiful and relaxing to walk by. There's a serene atmosphere that makes for perfect evening strolls, just taking in the sights and sounds. What truly sets this resort apart, however, is its phenomenal staff. Every single person we encountered, from the front desk to the restaurant servers and housekeeping, was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Their warmth and professionalism really made a difference. And of course, no review of Atlantis would be complete without mentioning the slides – they are hands down the best! Whether you're a thrill-seeker or just looking for some fun in the sun, the water park offers an exhilarating experience that's hard to beat. Overall, despite the initial check-in hiccup, the Atlantis Harborside Resort delivered an unforgettable vacation. It's a stunning property with exceptional staff, delicious food, and world-class attractions. We can't wait to go back!

Stayed 8/3-8/10. Rooms were disgusting and front-desk staff could not possibly care less. 0 empathy, 0 communication, 0 effort to resolve anything. This is shocking because we’ve been coming here for over a decade and staff has always been amazing. But this time it was notably different; it was clear they didn’t care about anything or anyone.

We are timeshare owners who paid for 3 bedroom connection with washer/dryer full kitchen. We were put in building 5 which was actively under construction the entire time we were there. We were next to rooms being demolished and worked on all day. Check-in process: 1 of the rooms wasn’t ready until close to 8pm. Once we finally got in we were hit in the face with a metallic/smokey smell - almost smelt like coal. The carpet felt like it had never been washed and turned our feet black. When we called to complain they sent someone with air freshener spray which only masked the smell for a short while. We were exhausted from travel so we dealt with it for one night but the smell became unbearable.

The next day we asked if they could clean the carpet thinking that was the cause of the smell. A very nice lady & man did actually try to help and brought a carpet cleaner. However when we checked on the room at 3 the room was in the same state we left it. Instead of cleaning they just moved us to the room next door. I’m fine with this solution however they just checked in another family into that disgusting room immediately after we left that room.

The new room was better but still had the lingering smell (although much more tolerable), the carpet still left our feet dirty but the problem with this room was the AC- which couldn’t keep the room cooler than 78 degrees. We gave up and dealt with it because we already lost a full day with the room debacle the day before. They also never came to clean our rooms once the whole time we were there.

In the middle of the week, they turned off the water for the whole building for about 8 hours but failed to inform anyone who was staying there. We had to find out when we couldn’t flush or wash our hands.

Shuttle service to & from Atlantis has also notably degraded this year. They have less shuttles running and we were stuck waiting for busses for up to 25 minutes - and if the bus was full you’re SOL until the next one decides to come. Some shuttles would only take you to certain locations despite listing all hotels on the bus.

The pricing of food is outrageous now. The point’s food selection is limited and the price for what you get is unjustifiable.

We spoke to other guests at the pool and they all had similar experiences, some even having to move 3 times and still had issues and just gave up. Overall it was very disappointing and not worth the money paid to own a timeshare here.

Oh and also you have to pay $25 for WiFi A DAY....

Greetings

Included with this letter of request for fees to be refunded is a copy of the A T & T bill showing I had made arrangements for my internet uses else where. Thus my statement to I did NOT enter My NAME NOR ROOM NUMBER for internet use at Harborside. I am Appalled that I am required to give a credit card number when checking in, and I did NOT sign the copy the day I left because I did not have an updated bill with out the charges of 21.95 added twice. I am demanding that the fees be returned at once.

Visit 2014

Upon arrival there was one roll of toilet paper on each side, no tea, coffee, or sugars, instant creamer or sweetener. No dishwasher soap, or dish soap to hand wash. There was not any laundry soap or softener sheets. One bar of soap and one of the shampoo and cream rinse. Unit had sand in it and the door had scratched the tile so severely it had a black mark on it. Counter was cracked and still uneven.

Notice was put out that the water would be shut off till 4:00 for repair. I called up till 10:00 pm trying to get the water back on. Finally by midnight we had water

Did the grocery shopping and ants got into the crackers, cookies, cereal, bread and candy lost around $105.00 of food.

Had to replace batteries in the remote myself.

Monies lost 2014 around 145.00 due to neglect in property and over charging.

Visit 2013

This visit I left my I-pod on the kitchen counter and it was stolen. I locked my small side and went out the larger side. I filed a report and they took pictures. I don’t know how they got in but someone did and STOLE my I-pod with my memories that cannot not be replaced. With today’s technology it is not difficult to break in or forge others information to obtain access. Regardless I left the information with the investigator, and filed the report. Pictures were taken and it was left that I would repurchase the I-pod on black Friday of 2014 and bring the receipt and be compensated. I did follow the arrangement that was verbal between Blanch and myself. Unfortunately for myself she was on vacation and in my several attempts to give her a copy of the receipt I was informed that it was not negligence of Harborside. I find that impossible due to the fact I locked the one side and went out the side that has more focus on it. I am only able to secure my personal belongings with the instruments given to me to use. Thus it is Harborside’s responsibility to replace the item.

I did everything I am supposed to do and pay my assessment on time and my timeshare is paid in full but to have a company do what Harborside to continue to abuse the giving of the credit card information, and not reimburse for things it is negligent on it’s...

I strongly recommend you do not stay at this resort. My family has a time share, they attended this place ten years ago and all the room are exactly the same from back then.

Please see my reasoning below: The properties - • The shower water doesn’t heat up so it’s not really hot when you are attempting to use it. • The elevator is scratched and looks as if it is going to break any day now. • The rooms smelt like someone had been smoking in there for sometime. • The toaster was broken and we couldn’t use the coffee machine as they didn’t bother giving us coffee filters. • The light switches don’t actually turn on the lights you have to manually do that, they then made an excuse and told us that’s how it’s always been, but why have light switches then. • The AC is loud and with clearly no maintenance, also overheard three other families discussing all of the same issues I quote them “luckily we are not here for a long time”. • The ice machine is slow and takes 24 hours to produce a small amount of ice. • The gym is disgusting. The machines are old, there’s no AC, the door code is broken so literally anyone can use it, there’s missing weights in the set, there mould and rust and you have to refill the water yourself. • The furniture and decor is absolutely the same they haven’t even attempted to update but have clearly invested in painting the outside of the properties and landscaping which indicates to me they have chosen not to invest on purpose. ———————————————————————— The Staff - • The concierge person was speaking to me while on her phone, she didn’t hear a word I was saying and wanted me to repeat myself, I literally just walked away. • The concierge on a separate day booked an anniversary dinner and got the number of people wrong despite me repeatedly saying it was for four people. • The only special request we asked for was for both of our rooms to be side by side so we could have a connecting door and they didn’t even do that. • The concierge was generally useless and didn’t know anything they should have so don’t waste your time.

I wanted to close with the fact that this place was clearly an amazing visit ten years ago, you cannot fault the location and you still have access to the Atlantis facilities which is a massive bonus hence why this is a two stars instead of one. The staffs attitude towards guests is frankly unacceptable and there has been no reinvestment into the properties making them dilapidated and disappointing, this place is a two or at a stretch three star strongly recommended you go to one of the many other hotels to...
