Our family and a friend with his daughter recently took a quick getaway to Bahrain to unwind and de-stress. After a long travel day, Craving some Sri Lankan food, we searched online and found a spot called ‘Machan Lanka’ With Google Maps in hand, we ventured out to find it. Let's just say we had a bit of an adventure locating the place! It took us circling the area three times before finally spotting it. But the wait was definitely worth it. Since it was nearing the end of their lunch service, we opted for a quick and simple order. The friendly waiters explained the portions perfectly, and we decided on Chicken fried rice, Nasi goreng, and fish cutlets. Everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The highlight for the kids was the delicious, mild-spiced chicken fried rice. We adults thoroughly enjoyed the flavorful Nasi-Goreng with a kick from the Chinese chili paste. Overall Machan Lanka proved to be a fantastic choice for a family meal. The friendly service, delicious food, and fun atmosphere made it a perfect stop on our first day in Bahrain. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good Sri Lankan...
Read moreTo begin with, it is extremely hard to find parking space as there is no dedicated space for the restaurant.
Friday evening and there were just a handful of customers. We sat downstairs and found the ambience to be extremely boring. Thankfully, the manager came and told us about the upstairs seating where there is live music, so we went there.
The upstairs space is a sports bar. There is a pool table, foosball table, and two screens playing sports. The live music is by a solo singer who performs karaoke.
It was quite boring there too. The singer is really good but the choice of music is not appropriate for the ambience - he likes to sing slow, old songs.
The restaurant caters to Sri Lankan and Filippino cuisines, and so were the crowds. We ordered a Devilled Chicken, which was good but the Kothu Porotta was super dry and bland. The quantity and prices are amazing, though.
Not a happening place as I was expecting, but ok for a decent meal and drinks...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Sri Lankan brunch on a Friday, and it was a delightful culinary journey. Despite offering a limited menu, each dish boasted the authentic flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine, making every bite a true delight. The affordability of the meal is a major plus, ensuring no one should complain about the limited variety—what they do serve is exceptional.
Adding to the charm, there's a bar section on the upper level equipped with a pool table, two dart boards, and a foosball table. This area provides excellent seating for small groups, making it a perfect spot to chill with friends. The beers are also very reasonably priced, enhancing the overall value of the experience.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this quaint little wonder. The combination of authentic flavors, great pricing, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere makes it...
