We aren’t too much of ‘seafood’ family. However, we decided to give Karavali a try, based on a recommendation by a friend. We weren’t too impressed with the entrance to the restaurant. However, the family section was laid out optimally, given the space constraints in downtown Manama. The decor and ambience were pretty decent. As soon as we found ourselves a quiet corner, a staff, one Mr. Minhaj, approached us served us a welcome drink - Spicy Mango Water and a Semiya Payasam. The mango water was really zesty and incredibly good. Minhaj was more than happy to give us a refill on our request. The Menu isn’t very transparent about the pricing of the seafood items due to the seasonal nature of the days catch. Can’t really complain. Minhaj, very patiently and clearly, explained the menu and the pricing. We ordered the Sea Bream Green Tawa and a Mangalorean Mango King Fish curry, along with an assortment of Indian breads. The waiting time for the food to hit the table was a very decent 15min. The Sea Bream Green Tawa was ‘finger licking’ good! The fish was succulent and cooked to perfection. The Mango KingFish curry took me on a nostalgia trip, reminding me of my mother’s Mango Prawn Curry. Karavali is the place to go, if you’re thinking / craving sea food ! The hospitality and warmth that dear Minhaj exuded, was the icing on the cake! @Karavali - Don’t lose Minhaj. Treasure him ! No mobile signal coverage in the family dining area. Ask for the Wifi password and they very gladly oblige. Could probably think of displaying a QR code to access their wifi l, on every table, so that customers don’t have to ask. They also do have a car park facility opposite the restaurant. It’s a paid car park. Get the ticket stamped at the restaurant, and parking is complimentary.

I recently had the opportunity to visit an Indian fish restaurant "Karavali " and indulge in their delicious cuisine. As a seafood lover, I was excited to try out their fish dishes, and to say the least, It was an exoerience I will never forget. Here is my review of the food and overall dining experience: Ambiance: The restaurant had a warm and cozy ambiance, with a simple and beautiful decor. The soft lighting and comfortable seating made me feel right at home. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which added to the overall pleasant dining atmosphere. Starters: To kick off the meal, I decided to try their fish tikka and prawn masala. The fish was marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and cooked to perfection. The tikka had a smoky and charred taste, perfectly complemented by the tangy mint chutney served alongside it. It was an excellent way to start the meal. Main Course: For the main course, I opted for their fish curry, a classic mangalorean Indian dish. The curry was aromatic and had a rich, creamy texture. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked, soaking up all the flavors of the curry. The spices were well-balanced, and the dish had just the right amount of heat. It was served with a side of fluffy basmati rice, which was the perfect accompaniment to soak up the fragrant curry. Overall, my experience at the Indian fish restaurant was exceptional. The quality of the fish, combined with the aromatic spices and excellent preparation, made for a memorable dining experience. The attentive service and inviting ambiance further added to the overall positive experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to seafood enthusiasts and anyone looking to experience the delightful flavors of Indian cuisine.

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hotel Karavali and I must say that it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambiance that transported me to the coastal city of Mangalore. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the incredible seafood selection. The prawns, squid, and fish masala were nothing short of extraordinary. The flavors were rich and authentic, capturing the essence of coastal cuisine perfectly. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, and I found myself savoring every morsel. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the dishes was commendable. The seafood was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, while the masala had just the right balance of spices. The chefs at Karavali certainly know how to bring out the best flavors in seafood, and their passion for their craft was evident in every bite. Beyond the exceptional food, the service was impeccable. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and more than willing to provide recommendations based on individual preferences. They created a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Karavali to anyone seeking an outstanding seafood experience. The flavors, the service, and the ambiance all come together to create an unforgettable culinary journey. If you're longing to savor the true taste of fish and indulge in Mangalorean cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I can confidently say that I left Karavali with a satisfied palate and a desire to return soon.

By far the best sea food mangalorean restaurant in middle east. Yes Middle East. In fact haven’t had this top quality mangalorean cuisine outside Mangalore. The quality, quantity & taste is top notch and worth every penny. This is our 2nd visit to Karavali, We drove from Saudi Arabia only to have lunch here. Worth the drive. The staffs are very courteous, the owner himself is on ground all the time making sure you get the best when you are there. He makes sure you are content when you leave the restaurant. What I have tried so far and i strongly recommend: Prawn Ghee Roast Squid Ghee Roast Fish Green Tawa Fry(Sea Bream, Sea Bass) Fish Red Tawa Fry (Sea Bream, Sea Bass) Fish Pulimunchi Tip: they are very flexible, choose a fish(ask for owners recommendation), ask them to cook half of it as green tawa fry and half as Pulimunchi/ghee Roast or Red tawa fry. They cook a single fish with any such combination. This is a great service specially when you want to try varieties.

Karavalli: Seafood Paradise From my very first bite at Karavalli, I knew I was hooked. This gem of a restaurant is a must-visit for anyone with a penchant for authentic Mangalorean cuisine and a love affair with seafood. I've been back multiple times, and each visit only deepens my culinary infatuation. The golden fried prawns are a crispy delight, but it's the ghee roast that steals the show—simply unparalleled in flavor and richness. I've also ventured into their tawa-fried dishes, masalas, biryanis, and grilled fish options, each one a testament to the mastery of their chefs. However, it's not all smooth sailing. On a couple of occasions, I've asked for half-portions only to be served—and billed for—full ones. A minor hiccup in an otherwise stellar dining experience. In summary, if you're a seafood aficionado, Karavalli is your culinary sanctuary. Just be clear on your portion sizes, and you're in for a treat!

Visited this restaurant on Friday for lunch.. we were surprised that meals are not available on Friday.. instead only biryani, white & ghee rice available on Friday.. (You need to order curry and side dishes from the menu separately) Some of the fish grills are priced seasonally (expensive) Prices listed in the menu and actual price may vary. Waiters are not friendly (bit rude when responding) and you will need to wait a lot to get your order.. We ordered a Fish grill but received fish tawa fry which is really GOOD (5/5) Squid ghee roast which tasted AVERAGE (2/5) Fish Briyani was GOOD (4/5) Prawn Briyani was Dry and bland (2/5) It's best to visit this restaurant on week days and not during weekends.. Some item prices are not mentioned in the menu, CHECK THE PRICE OF THE DISH BEFORE YOU ORDER.. Overall 3/5 based on my experience..
