This 1-star review is based upon the exceptionally poor customer service provided by Bake Me A Wish which resulted in them not delivering my $150 birthday cake order for my wife, and, to add insult to injury, refusing to refund my money for the cakes they didnât deliver.
The snafu was all over my accidentally transposing two numbers in the delivery address which resulted in their delivery agent (UPS) not delivering my item. But wait, you say, didnât you provide your contact phone number and email so that foreseeable issues like this that arise during deliveries could be easily addressed ? Well of course I did. But why didnât they call, text, or email you to let you know there was an issue before UPS decided to initiate a âreturn to sender.â Thats an excellent question. Sadly, Bake Me A Wish had no interest in answering it. Instead, when I raised my concerns to them via email and phone call, I received a terse email reply that not only would they not be delivering my cakes, they would also refuse me any refund. They gave no explanation nor ever an excuse from why neither they nor UPS ever bothered to contact me while the delivery was ongoing to easily clarify the delivery address. Instead, their offer to âremedyâ the situation was to discount 25% off a future order. NO THANK YOU. I refuse to throw good money after bad.
Bottom line: I have no idea if their cakes are tasty or not, because their exceptionally poor customer service never gave me the chance to find out. Order from them if you want to, but I suggest you have a...
Read moreI had a very special event to celebrate a dear friendâs 5+ year cancer-free accomplishment and wanted an awesome cake that could be delivered on a specific day. Bake Me A Wish seemed perfect! They had great reviews, great cakes, allowed for three lines of messaging on the cake, and offered Saturday delivery for an extra cost (clearly stated). I was thrilled. I spent quite some time trying to fit the exact right message onto their three lines with 6 characters on the first line and 8 on the last two.
And thenâtheir order confirmation removed all punctuation from my lines. The punctuationâin this case just a period, but an essential oneâwas stripped out. I got concerned and immediately emailed them using their online form. The next morning, I called and waited at least 20 minutes before requesting a call back (none came, despite their âwe value your callâ message). Finally, they emailed back and said: no punctuation allowed, and also no âinappropriateâ words (in my case, âhellâ in âHell yahââexactly 8 charactersâchosen intentionally to celebrate this milestone).
I had tried other words and knew some were blocked, which was annoying but at least clear. What wasnât clear was the disconnect between what their order form allowed and what their actual process rejected.
They did refund me (assuming it goes through), but I lost valuable time and, more importantly, the chance to get what I really wanted.
Iâm sure their cakes are good, but their ordering process and hidden rules are not...
Read moreI placed 20 orders for the Dutch Apple Pie as a thank-you to hard working employees. Their website says this about packaging and shipping:
Bake Me A Wish! takes the utmost care with each and every gourmet bakery gift we ship. Our system is tried and true, utilizing various components such as dry ice, polystyrene, and ice gels to keep your gift secure and fresh. Our gifts are always backed by our strong 100% guarantee for fresh delivery!
Unfortunately, that was not the case with these pies. There was no protective packaging or cooling agent included. Every one of the pies were simply in a flimsy box/pie tin and were damaged. We specifically selected this company because of the presentation and shipping method. This was a very disappointing end to a well-intentioned recognition of valuable team members.
I emailed customer care and they blamed UPS for the mishandling, and would offer a full refund for every damaged pie I sent in a picture. These were GIFTS-to ask them to take time to take a photo and email it to me was ridiculous and embarrassing. Not to mention, they didn't package them as claimed, so it's hard to blame UPS when it was their shortcoming. They offered a 10% refund. This order was over $1000! I asked to speak with a manager because, again, the misrepresented their "utmost care" in shipping. They topped out at a 15% refund. Never again. And word of mouth has gone far amongst my colleagues as we always like to share ideas for recognition gifts and...
