Came here expecting good things but was really let down by the service and food. I asked the person taking my order what options were vegan, they then told me multiple sauces that were mayo based so I said mm think they’d have egg?? They did not seem to know the concept of vegan let alone the stores menu. I asked specifically if one of the sauces was just a sauce flavour or if it had meat, they said no meat. I even checked the allergen list which was not helpful at all as it had fish listed on it but no meat category?? So I thought I was safe taking the staff’s word and looking at their list, this was until I bit into a piece of meat 🙃 As a vegan, this is a really shit experience. I returned the food and had to ask for a refund (they should’ve offered at bare minimum). Someone else then brought my plain (and tbh not even tasty) fries and my refund receipt but then asked me to pay for the new fries?? I explained the situation as clearly the staff were not communicating. This was a really horrible experience and the customer service was so so poor. I don’t understand how someone taking orders can have 0 knowledge of their products or basic good knowledge, and with such a small menu. Also need to update your allergen list and be clear with what is veg or vegan and what has meat, this could’ve easily happened to a vegetarian too. Also, regardless of the experience the fries were not very tasty and were lacking salt, a joke for what you pay/ the reason for...

Read morePieter Munten, CEO of Frites Atelier, about the decision to close the Utrecht location: ‘The rational decision to close our location in Utrecht is partly based on the success of the Frites Atelier concepts in Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels. Experience has taught us that the overall experience that we create all comes together in the larger locations. This decision was certainly not made overnight because we established a loyal and satisfied clientele in Utrecht. On the other hand, the results of our Belgian Ateliers show that a bigger seating area and a more extensive menu offer a healthier business case we want to build on. Our larger Belgian Ateliers have given us our perfect expansion model. Apart from that, the wider range of snacks on the menu allows Sergio Herman, our culinary brain, to make much better use of his creativity at our larger locations. With our Frites specials, he started a trend and we want to continue on this road with...
