Goossens — Restaurant in Antwerp

Don’t be intimidated by the queue. It moves pretty quickly. I was drooling when I made it in and I consequently ended up buying a whole variety of cakes, almost all variety pasties, and cookies. Everything looked pleasantly appealing. Don’t go there when you’re starving!

The service was quite amazing. I would say apart from buicuits, baked goods were borderline average. They were too rich for my taste. I would try other bakeries when in Antwerp, but I would certainly give the buscuits...

I finally decided to try Goossens after hearing so much about it, and honestly, it didn’t live up to the hype. The baked goods are decent, but not outstanding — good for the price, but don’t expect miracles.

Old style bakery and one of the most popular ones in Antwerp — hence the endless queue. A must try ! There is soooo much choice, but things you want to try here: roggeverdommeke (I prefer the white one), chocolate bread (if you arrive very early on Saturday it may still be hot), a “cougnoux” (sugary raisin brioche bread), a stoll — last three breads are better uncut so you can take chunks of it.
