It’s a great pity although the establishment houses a fascinating decoration, the rendered service was absolutely horrendous.
I was there with my family this morning at around 10:00am which the restaurant, obviously opened, had a couple of caucasian people having their breakfast. I stood there at the door courteously waiting for the waiter to serve us in but he just blatantly chatting with his colleague ignoring us for minutes. Only when I stepped in further and shouted “excuse me”, he then walked up and said they are closed. Confused, I walked off but returned back asking why there are some patrons having breakfast.
Then he explained that the kitchen is closed (opens at 11:00am) and show us they can only serves pastries and bakery at that moment.
My thought was, is it because we are Asian and he just bluntly rejected us by saying they are closed? Why would he not explained that they only serve pastries, bakery and beverages instead? In fact, we are looking for a late breakfast. I guess their chats were more important than customers.
Well, with such poor service and attitude, I believed their...
Read moreIt seems that the location of "Brasserie" is the only advantage this place actually has. It would be great to say anything (good or bad) about the food or at least the drinks, but we couldnt stand a chance to try any. We were waiting at our table for any attention from the staff for nearly 30 minutes, despite the fact that we could actually see other people being served at the same time. When my boyfriend approached the bar to place an order (after couple minutes of waiting) he was told to sit and wait for the waitress. As You can imagine, no one showed up. It was pretty awkward for us to see people that showed up 15mins after us and had been served. As an addition to that - the question for recharging our phone at the desk (still waiting for anyone to pay attention for the guests waiting to place an order i might add) was met with mildly put - unpleasant and rude attitude. We will never visit the restaurant (?) ever again. Even if the food or the tea is delicious. Big name for a very unfriendly place. What was the reason for the attitude? We...
Read moreLast Sunday I visit Le Royal café for a quick drink and snack before I catch the train. This is also the last time I will visit this establishment. The main reason is the service. I orded 'bitterballen' (dutch meatballs). The first one I took of the plate it was still cold from the inside. I head back to the counter, to the lady (manager?). She said 'ohhh I will re-fry them. No apologize was offered. I mentioned that the plate of bitterballen was a mixed plate with variety of fried snacks ( including bitterballen) The manager said, this is the way we get if from the box instead of apologizing that they served a mix plate. There was no discussion possible with the manager. I live in Antwerp, I am fluent in Dutch and know exactly what bitterballen are. How will she treat a person who doesn't speak Dutch and never tried bitterballen before? Please don't go there if you appriciate good service...
