We ordered day special - mix grill and caipirinha to drink. The food was ok, very average for that price range. After the meal we waited for 15 minutes before they took the empty plates away, and there were like 4 tables occupied by that time.
But the caipirinha was a whole different story. It was barely drinkable, like pure alcohol with some ice. I asked the waiter for replacement but he told me that it is supposed to taste like this but after that he said he also need to ask the second waiter (?). After a moment they both came to us and the second waiter asked if we want it less strong, we said yes and he took our glasses away.
He came back, put the glasses back on our table and left without saying anything. We tasted it and for a change it was super sour like pure lime juice with ice. We decided to pay and leave. One of the waiters walked around our table and straight to the bar, he did not see me heading there too to pay so I only overheard him talking to the second guy "they did not drink it hahaha".
Not to brag, but I had caipirinha many times before in quite a few restaurants, but this one was really one to remember.
We paid our meals and drinks and left.
Unfortunately I really do not recommend this restaurant. For the same price there are many better places around with friendlier and professional staff and much better...
Read moreI’ll preface this with something about me. Single male traveller, larger build. Non drinker and poor Dutch language skill.
I arrived and as I feared it was a tourist trap but a mild one. I was hungry and needed a decent meal that was not fast food. I arrived and was seated it was a bit tight and I was bumped into often. Sadly this is the norm for me so life goes on. I scanned the menu and had the surf and turf. The food itself was well presented on a little charcoal grill. The sauces and condiments were placed with a basket of bread. I asked about the beer (this for me is where service fell to pieces) I asked about non alcoholic beer and the server grunted and went off. I was served a beer but I had no idea what it was, was it no alcohol or very low alcohol. A good server would let me know they did and point it out to me on the menu (which should show alcohol percentage but this restaurant was haphazard about it) or confirm that it is zero alcohol not just grunt. I just felt like I was unwelcome and I should eat and vacate. Taking into account my small needs I’d not recommend this...
Read moreI really love the restaurant's atmosphere and it makes you feel like you are in a big cottage house (it's super cozy) and it makes you feel like you are in other country thanks to their decorations. µ As for their dishes they are all meat and they are just very delicious. I think if you are big eater, I am not sure if the portion will be enough for you but their menu has detail descriptions so you can always take a lot (even on their website). So you can get basic ideas before you go there.
The location of the restaurant is not far away from the Central station of Antwerpen. But keep this in mind that it opens from lunch...
