A bit hidden from view when from the "De Keyserlei", Takumi Ramen Kitchen delivers on what is, without a doubt, the best Ramen on offer in the city of Antwerp at the moment. Worth looking out for and entering.
Actually the 2nd Takumi to open after the successful launch of the Marnixplaats location, this Central Station location has a smaller terrace and not as nice a view outside. This is compensated however by the larger interior seating (with a nicer decor) allowing for a more relaxed atmosphere and a window allowing you to see the chefs at work in the kitchen.
The ramen (and curry rice (and gyoza (and donburi))) are as godlike as they were in the Marnixplaats location. Authentic Sapporo Ramen noodles are purposely imported, broth is made on-site and chefs (as well as random, unannounced inspections) watch over the quality, ensuring the authentic Japanese experience continues from the greeting into the plate/bowl.
Prices are more than fair for what you get, with €20 getting you a more than filling bowl of ramen and a drink. If you have any desire to eat authentic Japanese ramen while in Antwerp, Takumi is your best -if...
Read moreIf you are looking for a place to eat the best Japanese food and dip-dive in the atmosphere of this country, then you definitely need to visit this restaurant! Spicy Ebi Furay Miso Ramen is the best ramen I have ever tried before! If you like spicy food, this is the best choice because it doesn’t burn or block the taste of the ingredients. The dishes for vegetarians also taste delicious! The restaurant's menu includes a wide variety of amazing foods that are sure to satisfy every palate, and the portions are huge, so better to come with your couple or your friend to share! They also have ramen without meat or seafood. I advise you to try Okonomi Gyoza with vegetables even if you are not vegetarian, you will love it. The restaurant is small, so be prepared to wait some time to have a table or reserve it beforehand. But a memorable dining experience is guaranteed thanks to the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. Overall, this restaurant is a must-go for anyone seeking an amazing culinary experience, despite the probable wait for a table. The authentic design will not leave you...
Read moreIt's more a 3.5/5 than a 4. The atmosphere is good, but it can be ruined if one group of guests is too loud, which sadly happened when we went to eat. Otherwise, it definitely carries a certain charm to it.
The miso soup honestly lacks a certain kick to it and feels like it's watered down. I really don't know how to describe it, but it's lacking the flavor that makes miso soup miso soup. The same goes with the curry. The taste is there, but it falls flat from what one would expect with this rating. The gyozas as well there's just something missing, but it's not bad it's just honestly average.
The wait staff I have no complaints but also no compliments. They took our order and gave us our bill without even speaking a single word to us (extremely quiet). Normal service but lacking any human interaction or emotion. For 3 people, it came to 73€ so it was a somewhat average price for Belgium.
Overall, I honestly don't believe this place deserves the rating it has. A more realistic rating due to the atmosphere would be 4/5, but that can quickly fall due to people being too loud and...
