An Ode to the Culinary Excellence at Bar Tapas 177, Brussels
Steeped in rich history and nurtured by dedicated owners, Bar Tapas 177 in Brussels provides an unparalleled gastronomic voyage to the heart of Spain. Nestled comfortably in Belgium, it has effortlessly won our hearts and palates to the extent that we enthusiastically traverse from the seaside twice a month to revel in its charm and, of course, the food. Indeed, it has rightfully claimed its place as the premier tapas bar in Belgium, if not the entire northern Europe.
The culinary journey commences with the simple yet delightfully crunchy bread, lightly toasted and generously drizzled with olive oil. Following this is the pièce de résistance: the Grilled Octopus. Each bite is an exquisite blend of tenderness and char, transporting you straight to the Galician coast. The Pimientos de Padron are cooked to perfection, a delicate balance of flavours that could only be achieved by seasoned hands.
The classic Tortilla Española is comfort personified; its familiarity combined with a unique twist that Bar Tapas 177 manages to incorporate, makes it unforgettable. Their Gambas al Ajillo leaves you yearning for more, each succulent piece of shrimp a testament to the chef's prowess. The Pulpo a la Gallega and Boquerones en Vinagre further exemplify the menu's vast range, while the Calamares a la Romana, with its perfect batter and impeccably cooked squid, is a triumphant finale to this tapas symphony.
As much as the food is a sensual delight, so too is the overall experience. The staff exudes an affable warmth, their professional demeanor coupled with genuine hospitality that contributes significantly to the restaurant's convivial atmosphere. The impressive wine list elevates the dining experience, each pour a harmonious companion to the array of tapas offered.
What is particularly remarkable is how Bar Tapas 177 accomplishes all this with an ambiance that is both chic and comfortable, and prices that are notably reasonable given the quality. It is not merely a place to dine, but an establishment that allows you to experience the soul of Spanish cuisine right in the heart of Brussels.
In short, Bar Tapas 177 is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary love story that unfolds with each visit. It's an amalgamation of passion, dedication, and culinary prowess, and we feel privileged to be a part of its...

The food was delicious and we enjoyed it a lot and had a good time. The service could definitely have been faster, but considering that there was just one steward for the entire restaurant, it was understandable.
We were in a group of 12 and ordered a lot of food. Unfortunately, 2 of my dishes never arrived. It was disappointing, but the hospitality of the owners made me overlook that. And considering that we ordered more than 20 dishes on the same table, it can get difficult.
Reservation is recommended!
