Etiquette Wines — Restaurant in Brussels

Not for the beginner. I went in here with a friend of mine to possibly learn about wine and how to choose wine. It was rather empty as in was during the day in the middle of the week. (Don't judge me lol). The person at the bar was less than helpful. We informed him we had never been there before and asked him how it works. Prior to my visit I had gone on their website and facebook page, where it clearly stated classes were available by reservation or walk-in. Apparently this isn't the case. My, friend and I decided to have a seat maybe we would just order a mix plate and get a recommendation for a bottle. A few gentlemen we found in there seemed to be doing just that. 30 mins later the sever never even asked us if we wanted something to drink. Until I finally I asked him how the wine tasting works. He told he I need to buy a card which I fill with money, I can walk around and sample which ever was available. I asked him for the card. 20 mins later I asked him what was I had to ask him what was going on. "The machine is broken"....Maybe we are not good enough for him to come provide us with a service. It's my job to run around and beg him to spend my money....

The place tries to convince you it is a wine degustatiom location, but they fail. We were asking for a wine menu 3 or 4 times to order a bottle, and were ignored. A waitress came to take the order and we told her we need to see the menu, then she tried to play around with "what kind of wine do you want? Sweet? Dry spicy?". We asked do you have this one or that one, they didn't. Then she proposed something that she tried to describe as "spicy woody blabla" but no name no price, just order blindly. Her colleague brought a bottle, we tried the wine and which went sour, the three of us agreed. Finally, we just picked a wine (sold per glass) that was written on the board and it was at least drinkable. Very disappointed, especially because they pretend to know...

Such a lovely place you can go. This is a local bistro where you can find many wine varieties. The place can be suitable not only for couples but also big groups. The people who serves you are kind and friendly. The menu is enough for a bistro and if you think to have a full course dinner try to an another restaurant. Unfortunatelly there are so many people are served at the same time and because of the acoustic conditions are not good there is a high loud noise inside. Sometimes you can not hear the people come with you. Maybe it can be reduced with little help from an acoustic company/profession. Owerall, this is a nice place to go and do not forget to make a...
