Jacq's — Restaurant in Brussels

Just came back from a lunch here - after wanting to try it for weeks. Heard so much hype about this place, and yes, the food was good. The interior is great. However, the service must be the saddest so far in Brussels sadly….

Firstly, the most important: the grilled cheeses. I enjoyed them a lot. Good bread and nice ingredients. Simple little side salad. Big plus for having a vegan alternative for our friend.

The food came quickly and was piping hot.

The problem for me was the service. The three girls working there were annoyed and unfriendly. We stood at the counter waiting to order for a good few minutes while one girl was making drinks (without acknowledging us) and the other on texting on her phone. Unbothered by people wanting to place a order. The table next to us did not get cleaned during the whole duration of our lunch, and was just piled up with plates and leftovers.

My friends and I were trying to do laundry during our trip and then in the process we stumbled into Jacqs. We needed some breakfast after we spent an hour looking for a bank to get euros so we could clean our clothes. Great clean restaurant with excellent service, the lady running the place was extremely nice. She makes all the food fresh right after you order it in a small kitchen directly behind the register. My friends got the breakfast sandwich and I got the Caprese sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I had ever had. My friends were raving about the breakfast sandwich too. We were so happy to find this place after struggling to pay for our laundry all morning. This place is a hidden gem in that part of town and anyone visiting should definitely visit. Food: we didn’t try the sandwiches, but the coffee was of really good quality, with a clear difference in the foam for latte and cappuccino! One star for food less as there were multiple options on the menu that weren’t available

Service: The service wasn’t outrageous, but it wasn’t nice either. The girls working there barely acknowledged our presence when we came in, and even being the only one inside we had to wait for a long time to order. They were also quite dry in their interactions.
