La Boussole — Restaurant in Brussels

I had a truly wonderful dining experience here, one that reminded me why Belgian food is so well-loved. From the very first bite, I could tell the ingredients were fresh and treated with care. The mussels were the star of the meal—big, juicy, and cooked to perfection. They arrived in a steaming pot of fragrant broth, rich and comforting, the kind of flavor that makes you slow down just to enjoy it fully. I found myself savoring every spoonful, even dipping bread into the broth so nothing went to waste.

The fish dish was another highlight. It was simple yet elegant, with tender flesh that flaked apart so easily. The seasoning was delicate, enhancing rather than overpowering the natural taste. It felt like the kind of dish that speaks for itself—fresh, honest, and beautifully prepared.

And then came dessert: a crème brûlée that was exactly how I hoped it would be. The custard was creamy and smooth, lightly scented with vanilla, while the caramelized top cracked with the perfect sound when my spoon broke through. Sweet, but not too sweet—just right.

On our last night in Brussels my dear wife had a craving for Mussels in Brussels!! Top rated restaurants turned us away because we had no reservations and we needed a smoke free area. Not wanting my wife to leave without mussels, fries, and beer we found a wonderful restaurant called "La Boussole". We were welcomed without a reservation. Sat in the front window and were treated with the greatest respect. My wife loved their mussels and fries, and had the best Belgium dark beer to drink. I enjoyed the roasted duck, with potatoes and a delicious chocolate molten cake with a side of glaze. If you want to be treated like good family while eating a great meal, come to "La Boussole!" Went to dinner with some friends. The restaurant is located in Saint-Catherine and the decor is charming and simple. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I had the classic mussels in white wine sauce. The mussels were very fresh and juicy and the accompanying sauce was very delicious!
