We were looking for a lovely seafood restaurant to devour some mussels. We tried beaucop fish and were turned away quite rudely because they were fully booked. We stumbled on Chez Jacques and was glad we tried. The area was buzzing with lots of Pubs in the local area. The Food was super good. We had lots of mussels, a lovely soup complimentary of the house, a really yummy courgette shrimp fried dumpling type dish, a special for them. Some good fruity flavored white wine. staff were really friendly and helpful with recommendations. The mussels were fresh and hot- just what we needed on a cold rainy evening for dinner. Great place for seafood. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed a lovely meal for one when away with work, I sat outside and although the midges were flying around they didn’t bite so worth sitting outside. I enjoyed a local beer and a bottle of water. Another table ordered the fillet steak and chips which looked divine! Definitely some food envy there! Only downside to outside was the amount of cars speeding past, not the restaurants fault. There was no English menu, which I actually thought was a good sign. And it didn’t disappoint! My food was delicious! Great service and the server was able to tell me about the menu in English too.

Wonderful dining experience and the ambience was top-notch. The moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the cool and authentic Belgian-themed interior, setting the perfect mood for a delightful meal. The staff were incredibly friendly, consistently checking in to ensure everything was to my liking. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the mouthwatering Salmon dish, cooked to perfection. To complement my meal, I chose an excellent wine from their extensive selection. I highly recommend making a reservation on weekends, as this popular spot can get quite busy.

I know they say you have got to try the mussels when in Brussels, and I always felt that these kinda things were overrated. But oh boy, was I wrong. The mussels I had there were the best best best mussels I've had in my life! We went there for lunch and got their 3 course set. I got the mussels for the appetiser, but how I wished I would have gotten it as a main instead. It was so refreshing and fresh, cleanest tasting mussels I've had. No fishy, seafoody smell whatsoever. For the main I got the fish in a butter sauce. Delish! And for dessert.... I can't rmb though. I guess the for was too good to even think about the dessert. Do give this place a try. We walked in last night just before 8pm. They were fully booked but asked us to come at 9pm which we did and they gave us a table. All good so far. We ordered amongst other things their Aberdeen Angus Beef. Their top of the range steak selection. Sadly the steak arrived very chewy. We were hungry so ate most of it but with each mouthful had to remove the sinew out of our mouths and return them onto the plate. We were so disappointed that we asked to pay and get out of there as soon as possible. The waitress asked us in French “was everything good” we replied “no look at the plates”. She went and told the manager/owner who thought we could not understand French.He said to her “Just take their money” “ Prends...

Delicious seafood at reasonable prices.

We did not have a reservation but were asked if it would be ok to limit our dinner at 2 hours since the place was booked later in the evening. This was no problem for us since we did not plan on lingering. The staff was super friendly and explained the dishes we had questions on.

I settled on the mussels which were the best I’ve had in a long time. Juicy and flavorful. The fries were great as well. I washed it down with a Bière Jacques, the house beer, which was delicious as well (reminded me of a hazy IPA).

My daughter had the solettes meunière (sole strips) - she had so much food, she could not even finish it.
