I had the most magical evening in Brussels, and the Black Tower felt like something out of a fairy tale! • Historic Charm – This 13th-century tower is one of the last remains of the old city walls. It stands beautifully in the middle of modern buildings, making it feel like stepping back in time. • Fairytale Look – The stone walls, covered in climbing plants, made me feel like Rapunzel waiting in her tower! • Great Location – Right next to St. Catherine’s Church, which looks stunning at night with its lights. • Perfect for Photos – It’s small but so picturesque. A hidden gem in the city!

I highly recommend visiting, especially in the evening when everything feels...

The Black Tower is the remains of the walled fortifications of medieval Brussels. It’s an extraordinarily well preserved round tower. It’s a pity visiting the inside is not possible. From the exterior, the tower looks like something out of a fairytale. It looks amazing with climbers growing up to about halfway to the top of the windows. It also look very photogenic juxtaposed against the much more modern buildings that surrounded it.

Sadly, it’s a little off the main tourist circuit and only worth a look if...

A hidden medieval gem in the middle of the city The Black Tower is a small but impressive reminder of Brussels’ medieval past. Tucked between modern buildings near Sainte-Catherine, it’s amazing how well it has been preserved. You can’t go inside, but it’s definitely worth a stop to admire the contrast between old and new. A perfect spot for a quick photo and a quiet moment of history right in the heart of the city. Especially beautiful when lit up at night.
