Short story: very rude today (although in the past they have been nice) and waffles aren't the best tasting but nice enough. Today I went with a friend to this place that I have been many times. The last time I went I saw the person in front of me ask for the waffle to be cut up and me and the person I was with thought that was a good idea so we asked for the same. The guy had no problem and cut it into strips (using the spatula, right on the grill). Today I asked for the same and the lady working was very confused- she said 'we don't do that here' but I said I'd had it done in the past. Then the guy arrived (the same guy who had cut it up before) and agreed to cut the waffle (still acting like this was a crazy request and something they'd never done before) but he cut it in a crazy way- like macerated it and then piled it onto the tray as a mess. I also didn't get much cream this time. I am only commenting because the attitude was extremely rude- like constantly saying that they don't cut it (as if it was some big task) and then carelessly destroying it. The waffles do not taste that great but it's nice to have a vegan option and often when I show friends around Brussels I go there but I won't again because my friend was very shocked- this was her first impression with Brussels and she felt that they were very rude and making a big deal of something. I don't know why they were so rude and argumentative today. Prices have also gone up but that's understandable I suppose. This experience really stuck with my friend and she is still talking about it so I thought I would share to encourage them to be a bit more understanding- especially to tourists who are not from the same culture. Also I want to encourage people to ask for the waffle to be cut because the first time this seemed like a normal request but today apparently we're crazy. Sad to have lost my little routine for when I go into the center but oh well. I'll have to try and find another vegan business to support. Lucifer Lives is fairly close and they...

Delicious gluten free waffles that are also vegan. It's not easy finding gluten free waffles in Belgium but luckily you don't need to find any other once you've tasted this.
They also had the best vegan ice cream I have tasted in my life. My friend agrees.
The little place is / milk / lactose / gluten / animal free all around and so good. Very friendly staff too. A scoop of ice cream, chocolate sauce and freshly made waffle came to about 7.50. So worth it and cannot be compared to more touristy places that have cheaper ingredients. Be aware they do not take cards and he is happy for coins if you have change.
I will most definitely...
