We truly had a wonderful experience celebrating our wedding at Alix this summer! Alix (and in particular Glenn) was incredible to work with and really managed to give us the cosy vegan wedding dinner we dreamed of. We feel so grateful to them for that lovely evening - thank you so much!

-------------------------------------- The full story ---------------------------------------------- The communication before the event was a definite highlight. Glenn was always available for our inquiries and communicated the agreements and pricing very clearly. Our main worry beforehand in working with Alix was whether they could serve tasty vegan food. Glenn came with a solution: we planned a tasting of the entire menu 1.5 month before the wedding dinner itself. In this way, Alix gave us the opportunity to give feedback so they could adapt the food if necessary. What professionalism! On top of that, two months ahead of the event, we sat together with Glenn for a rundown of things to be decided on, which we greatly appreciated.

We invited about 25 guests and so were only able to reserve the smaller location (Table d'Amis). This meant our party was seated under a tent installed on white gravel and that we had no access to the garden, in which simultaneously another event was happening. Our wedding dinner however felt really like a private party: the other party was happening quite far from our location and a set of bamboo pots were positioned strategically.

We did not request special decoration, but thought it was so cosy when we arrived! Light bulbs suspended under the tent assured a warm atmosphere and though the tables were decorated minimally, we appreciated the flowers that were present. On top of that, the service of the waiters was impeccable. They were flexible regarding timing (some speeches/activities were unannounced), kept communicating with us, and they were perfectly fine with talking English to our international group of guests.

There is just one minor remark we would like to mention: the fixed seating plan was slightly adapted and this was not communicated with us before the event itself. This is something we preferably would have liked to discuss beforehand.

Finally, let's discuss the food that was served. Our guests gave us nothing but good feedback on the vegan menu. The creativity of the chef was astounding, and the play of different tastes and textures impressed us. We also noted that our feedback was taken into account, since the menu was indeed modified in selected ways. The house wine was also very much liked.

To conclude: what an incredible afternoon and evening Alix organized for us. We feel very grateful to them and wish Alix all the best in the future ❤️

Stunning little find, we planned to go to another breakfast spot which was unfortunately closed, then stumbled across Alix on google, it was the most perfect way to end our visit to Ghent,

At first we did not know the concept and walked in only to find a shop that looked like it was closing (It was end of season) we asked the waitress do they do breakfasts and she smiled asking do we have a reservation, we didn't but she organised us a small hamper and pointed us in the right direction towards what looked like a small community gathering for breakfast,

Walking down a small stoney path, my girlfriend and I looked at each other not knowing what was happening, how could something so pretty and perfect be tucked away inside the city centre, we sat down next to a mother, daughter and pooch wished each other good morning and then approached the Organic buffet that is laid out inside a small barn house/shed,

The food was unreal, again we where about to settle for pancakes and waffles with some whipped cream, this food knocked anything we could have planned out off the ballpark,

Everything about the experience...

I really enjoyed my stay at Chambre d'Amis. As I didn’t read my emails, it was tricky to get in to the B&B because I hadn’t realised that I needed a door and key box code. Nevertheless, once in, I was very happy. The room was spacious and stylish, the bed was large and comfortable, and the sleep quality was amazing as the room was quiet and dark. Served between 8 and 10 am, the continental breakfast was tasty and filling. The B&B has a very nice kitchen with an honesty bar that you’re able to use. I was looked after at breakfast very well by a friendly chap called Glenn. Overall, it was an excellent stay – highly recommended. One slight word of warning: the bathroom for my room was separated from the bed area by a low divider and not walls and a door (see pic). Something to consider if sharing...

A perfect finish after our few days in Bruges. Taking the train back to Brussels airport we had to change so chose Ghent for (hopefully) a last lunch as the timings worked well. Googled restaurants near the station and thought this looked a reasonable option. Well - absolutely blown away because it was set up as a picnic. Fantastic - the French may have 'le mot' but the English took on this form of dining with alacrity! So .. we picked up our crate with pretty plates and picnic blanket, headed for a spot on the grass (there are tables/chairs too) and raided the buffet (all you can eat) and had a last Belgian beer - and sneaked in an Aperol Spritz.

We came here for the Sunday brunch, which turned out to be really nice! The environment is without a doubt the highlight; on a beautiful hidden garden in Central Ghent, with the buffet being served in a glasshouse. The food itself is all high quality and pretty delicious, with a pretty wide array of things to choose from. This said, at 38 euros, a good portion of the price is for the location, as it would be expensive for the food only. Still, if you want an easy going slow Sunday brunch on a beautiful day, it's a very pleasant experience!
