The ambiance is good. Especially the second floor is looking quite chique. Sadly that's where it stops with the positives. We got given a seat near the entrance, which was very windy and cold. All tablee were also very near to one another which meant that you could hardly move without touching someone else. They really try to maximize the amount of people that can dine at the same time. This they can do because the large majority of people order ribs. This was exemplified by our waiter who's first question was "who doesn't want ribs?". He then rushed off to another table. He wasn't the only one who was in a hurry, the entire staff seemed rushed and overworked. We noticed this as our drinks and food were served. In stead of giving the meals to the person that ordered them, drinks and food were placed in the middle of the table. Without speaking a word, or wishing us a bon appetite the waiter left. At least we had food and we could fill out bellies. We were looking forward to eating our belly full. After a minute of silence as everyone dug in we looked at each other in dismay, my friend who planned to go uttered an excuse and proclaimed that he didnt like it. My other friends and I had similar experiences, I heard them say "worst ribs I've ever had." And "Theres no meat on this, just fat". In short the ribs were tasteless, with little meat on them, and chewy and tough. The waiter didnt come by to ask if all was in order or if we were enjoying the food. Even though we could get more ribs, some of us didnt finish the first small batch and thus we asked for the bill. Then the question came, "did you enjoy?". "Not exactly" I said. I told the waiter it was not what I really expected. His first respons was one of astonishment, "Wablief!?" He cried out. He then said that all the others were really enjoying the food, pointing at those poor souls still reluctantly chewing on meat that shouldn't be chewed on very much at all. As you can imagine I gave no tip and using suggestive hand gestures we were quickly...
Read moreI would like to share the WORST culinary experience of my life. We made a reservation for 6 the day before, yet when we arrived on the 20.10.2018, we had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated at our table. When we did, on the top floor in a room for ourselves we ordered the usual: beer, water and ribs. The bottled water was a dirty refilled bottle with tap water and the ribs were dry and pretty tasteless. This, however is beside the point.
What we did NOT order on the side was a full family of MICE (at least 3 or 4) running freely under our table and around the room. We tried confronting the waiters but they joked about it and laughed, as they tried to scare the mice away from our table. Appalled by their reaction we asked to speak to the manager, who took a good 30 minutes to show up. When he did, he was extremely rude and arrogant. He was agitated as he tried to explain that this was something completely normal in Ghent and some empty and pointless explanation about the architecture of the building. He refused to make any type of amends with us, or help, and rudley insisted that despite being the manager this had nothing to do with him and that we should see it as something normal and ok. They even had mousetraps hidden behind the furniture in the dinning room.
We had to pay fully for everything (despite having left our food half unfinished and cold) and could not even file a formal complaint with them, but had to contact the local police and sanitary authorities by ourselves.
I hope that a formal complaint and bad reviews such as this will help put an end to treating costumers in such a vile, despicable, rude and disrespectful way.
It is NOT normal to eat surrounded by mice. This is a serious issue and a health and...
Read moreHad probably one of my worst experiences at restaurant ever here last night. (April 26th 2025)
Went with my girlfriend and 2 friends. My girlfriend is a consul for the Belgium government. And is very reputable.
My friend's girlfriend was wearing a somewhat revealing dress. -on the way to the bathroom. One of the waiters took a picture of her and then he started showing it to not only customers but other waiters alike laughing and talking about it.
My girlfriend (the Belgian consul) saw this ans observed it for a few minutes on her way back. And immediately reported it to us. We told the manager and demanded to go upstairs to talk with them. The manager ran up before we could go upstairs. He was frantically telling them and trying to give them time to delete things before we could enter.
When we finally did enter upstairs again. We saw the putting it down like he didn't do anything afterwards. And then walk away fast. They said that never happened and they told my girlfriend she was a fool and hallucinating. Before she could even point it out the manager was shaming her and saying she was lieing. Bringing her to tears.
The manager then said it was her own fault for wearing a revealing dress and started to insult her.
When even several customers agree that this happened, after we had no choice but leave. or call the police.
This was extremely sad event and it sad that they have true sick perverts working at this place. If I were you and if I were a woman I'd be careful on any male waiters in this restaurant.
I reporting them formerly to police. AND RECCOMEND YOU DO NOT TAKE...
