Go.fre Gent - Belgian waffles & ice cream — Restaurant in Ghent

I had a very unfortunate experience in this café. While paying for my ice-cream my debit card fell between the icecream machine and the wall, which was covered by a grating with screws. When I asked from the girl working there to help me retrieve the card, they had to call first their boss to ask permission helping me. The boss replied to them that it is not possible to help me retrieve the card, or even try doing so. From the grating I could see the icecream machine, which means that somewhere between would have been the debit card. When I asked if I could bring a screwdriver myself to open the grating on the wall again they negated. So I had to cancel my card. I now regret having left defeated, as at the police station they told me I had every right to call them to assist me in the spot. Very unfortunate that humanity is missing, or even the decency to try to help someone. No wonder the icecream was...

This store is located in busy shopping street and not so far away from it’s competitor (Australian Ice cream). But they are doing great (both stores have friendly staffs, pricing are transparent and there are crowds).

They serves delicious ice cream and waffles (both Brussels or Liege one with choice of your topping). Despite the fact many people orders the Belgian waffles, did you know that Go.fre is famous for their traditionally made wafel on a stick in Ghent & Bruge, which you can chose your chocolate (fondant chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate) and then decide on if you want to add toppings (such as sprinkles, mash mellow, etc). I was walking through Gent and I found this empty place and I said why not try it... Disappointing with the customer service as well as the product they sell... I ordered a waffle and the girl must have been distracted or she doesn't know how to prepare it well because It came with burnt pieces (see photo). I ordered a coffee and left it right there because it was terrible… I paid 6€ for these two things. I politely asked the girl if she could prepare it again or refund me the money but she responded in an arrogant tone saying that she had prepared it well.
