Le Botaniste in Gent, Belgium, is a delightful vegetarian restaurant that offers an inviting atmosphere and a refreshing dining experience. Located on Hoornstraat, this charming spot serves an array of plant-based dishes that are as nourishing as they are flavorful.

From the moment you step inside, the restaurant exudes warmth and calm with its minimalist décor and natural elements, creating a cozy, comfortable environment. Whether you're a lifelong vegetarian or simply looking for a wholesome, plant-based meal, there is something for everyone. The soups, salads, and hearty bowls are standout choices, with unique combinations that surprise and delight the taste buds.

One of the highlights of the meal was the variety of options that cater to different dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan dishes, ensuring that all guests feel welcome and satisfied. The portions are generous, and the food leaves you feeling nourished and energized, rather than overly stuffed.

Overall, Le Botaniste is a fantastic vegetarian restaurant in Gent that combines excellent food with a relaxing atmosphere. The atmosphere and interior are beautiful in this healthy, organic, plant-based (vegan) cafe/restaurant. It's in an old apothecary and fits this theme well with colourful, dried goods in old jars and the staff wearing white lab coats. It's not the most cosy place but very enjoyable to sit and relax for some time. The music was great too and they offer free WiFi. The food is served quickly as it is already made and kept warm in pots at the counter. I ordered the Chili Sin Carne and it was packed with protein. It was so filling and warming. Unfortunately it lacked any spice which I was expecting with a chili but I would definitely order it again. It was still delicious. I also ordered the seaweed tartare and turmeric hummus with crackers. I wouldn't order the seaweed tartare again even though I love seaweed as it tasted odd and I didn't like it. The hummus and crackers were good. My organic Belgian beer (Brunehaut Blonde Bio) was also very tasty. The staff working there made the whole experience so enjoyable. They were so friendly and welcoming and all spoke perfect English. It's dog-friendly too which is a big bonus! Would definitely recommend a visit. Thank you Le Botaniste. I will visit again on my next...

Even though it really is a charming restaurant, the service was really bad after we couldn't even finish half of our Tibetan Mama curry bowls. The curry honestly tasted blant, no trace of coconut or peanut(butter) in there either, while the sourness of the spicy a.f. carrots was super dominant, and the extra marinated tofu didn't help as it was so dry and tasteless. When I went to take the bowls inside and I was asked if it wasn't good seeing as they were still more than half full, I told her it really didn't taste good to us, she just said "It happens." and went away. We were asked to already pay (cash) in advance so really couldn't make a stance about it either. I don't understand, because I see so many good reviews about their food and especially the curry. Weird thing is that their pictures on Instagram differ from what we got. Our curry looked way more light green than a brown green. Maybe their other bowls taste better, maybe we just had a bad batch, I don't know. All I know is that I don't feel like going back there and that their customer service needs to be better, to deal with these situations. We went home still hungry, but nauseated and bloated after a while. This is not how you deal with...

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Le Botaniste! This charming, plant-filled spot is a true gem for anyone seeking healthy, vibrant, and delicious plant-based food. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt instantly relaxed thanks to the cozy, nature-inspired decor. The atmosphere is inviting and warm, making it a great place for a casual yet refined dining experience. The menu was packed with creative, flavorful dishes that highlight fresh vegetables and plant-based ingredients in the most delicious ways. I started with the house-made hummus, which was paired with crispy veggies and was full of flavor. For the main course, I opted for the "Green Goddess" bowl, which was an absolute winner—packed with wholesome ingredients like quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, and avocado. Each bite was a perfect combination of textures and flavors. All in all, Le Botaniste is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy tasty, plant-based cuisine in a laid-back yet stylish setting. I’ll definitely be coming back soon to explore more of the menu!
