La Salita — Restaurant in Ghent

Dined last Saturday evening, as a group of 6 friends. Unfortunately our experience was not good. Waited over 90 mins for our pizzas, and whilst we appreciated they were busy, we were hungry and this level of service is not acceptable. The wait was equally long for other tables as the chef struggled to cope with in house, and takeaway orders. The waitress, was very stressed and looked about to burst into tears, and the chef was very rude when we complained about the time everything was taking. Had a very good time at this Italian restaurant run by a very cute and hardworking couple.

We called and booked and preordered our meals an evening in advance. So we didn’t have to wait for so long.

Pizzas were just excellent. By far the best Italian pizzas I’ve had. Such thin and soft crusts. Pastas were also very nice.

Being a hard core foodie, maybe portions of some options could have been increased.

Excellent selection of wines and very good desserts.

Reserved a table for two. The restaurant itself is tiny yet packed to the brim which makes for a suffocating atmosphere, not a pleasant combination with unbehaved, loud children (obviously not the fault of the owners).

The food however was disappointing, waited 45 minutes to receive our bruschette and another 50 minutes to receive our basic pizzas (including burnt bottoms). Not sure if this bad experience was an exception or if it's...
