't Klokhuys — Restaurant in Ghent

June 2022: Wow ! What a great restaurant ! The host and hostess are super friendly, very observant and helpful and the food is ... just awesome ! The starters and main courses were great, absolutely great, but the house-made Tiramisu just blew us away. The best we have ever had. We have already decided to come back to Ghent and when we do, we will come back to this restaurant too !

Addition 17-12-2022: this weekend we are back in Ghent and tonight we went back to 't Klokhuys. Again it was a great experience. Due to the Christmas fair, the place was packed but quality and atmosphere did not suffer. This time I had a great steak and my wife had the risotto, followed by the crème brûlée for dessert. These dishes were also just great ! What I also found impressive was that the owners recognised us from our visit half a year ago - this demonstrates their attention to detail and care for people.

I'm sure that we will come back to Ghent (we love the city) and when we do, we'll be back at 't...

As a customer who recently visited this so-called restaurant for dinner, I must say that I was extremely disappointed with the service I received. Although the food was decent, the terrible service ruined the entire experience for me. To make matters worse, my dish came with a disgusting discovery.

When I brought this to the attention of the staff, instead of apologizing for the mistake, I was accused of making it up. This was a shocking and unacceptable response, and it left me feeling accused and bullied by the rude attitude of their personnel.

Overall, I had a terrible experience at this restaurant and I would not recommend it to anyone. The staff's behavior was completely unprofessional and their handling of the situation was unacceptable. I hope the management takes the necessary steps to improve their service and avoid such unpleasant experiences for their customers...

Let's start with the good things. The food was fine, no complain on that part, hence the two stars. Even though the waiters were nice and polite, the service was extremely slow, we waited more an hour to get our food. I understand that it was a Saturday evening, but still, if you can't handle that much customer, you should not let that much customer in. When we arrived, our table was not read by the time of our reservation (not really surprising if you take the slow service into account), it took 15 minutes to take our drink order, but then we had to wait for a different waitress since our initial waitress wasn't familiar with the chef's recommendations. Not the mention that the the ventilation of the venue is substandard, all our clothes had to washed after our visit in this establishment. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are in...
